The Senior Technical Trainer in Audio & Video Conferencing is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering advanced technical training programs for internal employees, partners, and clients. This role acts as a subject matter expert on A/V technologies, specializing in video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx), hardware integration (e.g., Poly, Cisco), and unified communications. The Senior Trainer ensures high adoption rates, technical proficiency in troubleshooting, and a superior user experience during virtual/hybrid meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Training Strategy & Curriculum Design: Create, update, and maintain comprehensive training materials, including instructor-led training (ILT), webinars, self-paced e-learning modules, job aids, and user guides for AV/VC technologies.
- Technical Training Delivery: Conduct engaging training sessions (in-person and virtual) on advanced A/V setup, room systems (SIP/H.323), soft client troubleshooting, and network requirements for optimal audio/visual performance.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Maintain deep technical knowledge of current video conferencing platforms (Teams, Zoom, WebEx Events) and hardware (Poly (Formally Polycom)).
- Needs Assessment & Evaluation: Collaborate with IT and support departments to identify skill gaps. Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and adoption analytics, adjusting curricula to meet evolving tech needs.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior technical trainers and support specialists on instructional design best practices and advanced A/V troubleshooting techniques.
- Vendor/Engineering Liaison: Partner with engineering and AV vendors to test new features or equipment (microphones, cameras, mixers) and develop training to reflect product updates.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or relevant is preferred, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in technical training, with at least 3+ years specifically in A/V technology, video conferencing systems, or unified communications.
- A/V Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of Poly hardware; DSP setup, SIP/IP protocols, and network conferencing requirements.
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Zoom/Teams administration, Microsoft Office Suite, and instructional design tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Camtasia).
- Certification: Certifications such as Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+), AVIXA CTS/CTS-D, or specialized vendor certifications (Zoom Certified Trainer, Microsoft Teams Certified) are highly preferred.
- Communication: Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts simply.
