Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager based in Brazil.
As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will lead complex, high-impact initiatives across core banking, card issuing, and payment technology platforms.
You’ll coordinate global engineering, product, architecture, SRE, operations, compliance, and client delivery teams to turn strategic priorities into successful production outcomes.
The role combines strong technical understanding with program leadership, requiring you to navigate distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, APIs, and payment processing environments.
You’ll help manage major platform launches, migrations, and Tier-1 client programs where reliability, security, and scalability are critical.
You’ll provide leadership with clear visibility into milestones, dependencies, risks, and delivery performance while driving resolution of complex challenges.
You’ll also engage directly with enterprise clients and senior stakeholders, translating technical complexity into clear plans and decisions.
This is a remote opportunity for an experienced technology leader who thrives on influence, collaboration, and delivering mission-critical programs.
Accountabilities:
- Lead complex, multi-team technical programs spanning core banking, card issuing, ledgers, authorization, settlement, disputes, fraud, and payment processing.
- Drive strategic initiatives from initial concept through implementation, production rollout, and post-launch evaluation.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive program plans covering milestones, dependencies, risks, deliverables, resources, and success criteria.
- Provide leadership with clear, timely visibility into delivery progress, blockers, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Architecture teams to ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
- Review and challenge technical designs, architecture trade-offs, implementation approaches, and delivery plans when appropriate.
- Drive alignment around technical requirements, non-functional requirements, operational readiness, scalability, security, and resiliency objectives.
- Identify integration, performance, reliability, security, and operational risks early and ensure appropriate mitigation plans are developed.
- Coordinate execution across Product Management, Engineering, SRE, Architecture, Client Delivery, Compliance, and Operations.
- Establish accountability for cross-functional dependencies and drive timely resolution of blockers and inter-team issues.
- Facilitate program planning, execution reviews, release readiness activities, and post-launch assessments.
- Ensure engineering execution remains aligned with business priorities, customer commitments, and strategic objectives.
- Support major client initiatives involving financial institutions and enterprise customers, including platform migrations, launches, and production rollouts.
- Drive readiness for Tier-1 client programs by coordinating technical, operational, and delivery requirements.
- Communicate technical issues, program risks, dependencies, and delivery status effectively to internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Lead risk management, escalation, and issue-resolution processes across complex programs.
- Establish program metrics and reporting mechanisms that improve delivery predictability, transparency, and execution quality.
- Leverage modern digital and Generative AI tools to improve program planning, analysis, communication, and everyday productivity.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, 5+ years with an advanced degree, 2+ years with a PhD, or 11+ years of relevant professional experience without a degree.
- 8+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering management, software delivery leadership, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong background in software engineering, computer science, systems architecture, or another technical field.
- Experience leading complex programs across global and distributed engineering organizations.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Practical knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Understanding of CI/CD, modern software delivery practices, and technical delivery lifecycles.
- Familiarity with active-active architectures, disaster recovery, resiliency testing, and non-functional requirements.
- Experience working in highly regulated financial environments, ideally supporting Tier-1 banks, payment processors, fintech platforms, or comparable critical systems.
- Strong understanding of banking, payments, card issuing, transaction processing, or related financial technology domains is highly valuable.
- Proven expertise in risk management, dependency management, issue resolution, and stakeholder alignment.
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, and/or SAFe methodologies.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and other program management and collaboration tools.
- Excellent communication, executive presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and drive accountability without having direct authority over all participating teams.
- Ability to engage credibly with technical teams while communicating complex technical and program concepts clearly to executives and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced English proficiency.
- Strong organizational skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Generative AI tools and emerging technologies is an advantage.
Benefits
- Fully remote position based in Brazil.
- Full-time opportunity supporting large-scale, mission-critical financial technology initiatives.
- Opportunity to work with global and distributed engineering, product, architecture, SRE, and operations teams.
- Exposure to cloud-native platforms, distributed systems, payment technologies, and enterprise-scale architectures.
- Direct involvement in strategic programs, major platform launches, migrations, and enterprise client initiatives.
- Opportunity to influence technical strategy, delivery practices, operational excellence, and program governance.
- Collaborative environment with opportunities to work closely with senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Equal-opportunity workplace committed to diversity and inclusion.
- Opportunities for professional growth through exposure to complex technology programs and emerging digital and AI capabilities.
