Job Description

Trupanion is a leading provider of medical insurance for cats and dogs in North America. Our mission is to help loving, responsible pet owners budget and care for their pets. At Trupanion, we offer a collaborative, casual, and pet-friendly environment where everyone is encouraged to be themselves.

Trupanion is seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager, Enterprise Digital Integrations to lead the strategy, roadmap, delivery, and continual optimization of critical enterprise integrations and backend platform capabilities.

This position is open to candidates in the Seattle area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.

This role sits at the intersection of product management, software engineering, enterprise architecture, and business operations, serving as the product owner for technologies that enable data exchange and business processes across Trupanion's digital and enterprise ecosystem. Initially, this position will focus on backend systems supporting Trupanion's website experiences and partner/affiliate integrations, with the scope expanding to include enterprise-wide technology integrations across all business verticals.

As Trupanion continues to evolve its enterprise technology landscape, this role will be responsible for helping define and manage integration strategies across critical business verticals, including:

  • ERP and financial systems
  • CRM platforms
  • Marketing technology ecosystems
  • Master Data Management (MDM) platforms
  • Customer Data Platforms (CDPs)
  • Identity and access management solutions
  • Data warehouses and analytics platforms
  • Customer service and contact center technologies
  • Third-party partner and affiliate systems
  • Additional enterprise applications and shared services across the organization

The ideal candidate is a highly technical product leader who can effectively partner with software engineers, architects, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors to deliver scalable, reliable, secure, and observable solutions. While this role is not expected to design systems or write production code, it requires a strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, system integrations, cloud technologies, data flows, observability tooling, and application performance to effectively prioritize work, identify opportunities, and remove obstacles that impact delivery.

This individual must be comfortable navigating complex technical environments, reviewing application logs, analyzing telemetry, leveraging monitoring platforms such as Datadog, participating in incident reviews, and translating business objectives into actionable technical requirements. Success in this role requires the ability to understand technical constraints, system dependencies, implementation tradeoffs, and operational considerations while partnering with engineering teams to deliver business value.

This role is ideal for a senior technical product manager who thrives in complex enterprise environments, enjoys working deeply with engineering teams, understands enterprise architecture and system integrations, and can bridge the gap between business objectives and technical execution in a highly regulated industry

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and priorities for enterprise integrations and shared platform capabilities.
  • Establish a multi-quarter roadmap aligned with company objectives, technical strategy, and business priorities.
  • Balance business value, technical complexity, operational considerations, security requirements, and architecture constraints when prioritizing investments.
  • Partner with technology and business leaders to identify opportunities to improve scalability, efficiency, reliability, security, and customer outcomes.
  • Drive modernization and continuous improvement initiatives across integration platforms, enterprise systems, and shared technology services.

Technical Product Ownership

  • Serve as the product owner for enterprise integrations, APIs, backend services, and platform capabilities.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into detailed technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop a deep understanding of system architecture, service dependencies, integration patterns, and platform constraints.
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to make informed prioritization decisions and resolve competing business and technical needs.
  • Understand and communicate technical trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and implementation constraints to stakeholders.
  • Support architecture discussions and solution reviews by ensuring proposed solutions align with business objectives and operational requirements.
  • Drive alignment across multiple teams operating within highly interconnected enterprise systems.

Enterprise Integration Leadership

  • Own the roadmap for integrations between internal platforms, third-party vendors, affiliate partners, and enterprise business systems.
  • Lead product strategy and prioritization for integrations involving:

    • Data warehouses and enterprise analytics platforms
    • Contact center and customer service technologies
    • Additional enterprise applications and shared services
  • Drive API-first and event-driven integration strategies where appropriate.
  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams to establish scalable, secure, and maintainable integration patterns.
  • Drive consistency, governance, and standardization across enterprise integration frameworks, data exchange models, and business workflows.
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to improve enterprise data quality, interoperability, automation, and master data management capabilities.
  • Ensure integrations are reliable, secure, auditable, scalable, and compliant with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

Technical Operations & Observability

  • Develop a strong working knowledge of application monitoring, observability, and operational tooling.
  • Review logs, telemetry, dashboards, alerts, and system health metrics to identify product and operational improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize tools such as Datadog and other monitoring platforms to understand system performance, incidents, integration failures, and user-impacting issues.
  • Participate in production incident reviews, root cause analyses, and post-mortem discussions.
  • Partner with engineering teams to prioritize and address recurring operational issues.
  • Monitor platform reliability, throughput, latency, error rates, integration health, and service performance.
  • Advocate and drive improved observability, diagnostics, instrumentation, monitoring, and operational excellence practices.

Execution & Delivery

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across engineering, architecture, QA, security, operations, and business teams.
  • Own and maintain the product backlog, priorities, and release planning activities.
  • Own and drive applicable Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges and drive resolution.
  • Ensure solutions are delivered with high quality, strong operational readiness, and measurable business outcomes.

Data, Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and track product, platform, integration, and operational KPIs.
  • Leverage data and technical insights to drive decision-making and prioritization.
