Job Description

Provide technical leadership in establishing the Network Operation Center at the Digital Center of Excellence in Cork. Closely collaborate with teams in the US, India and Europe to establish best practices and ensure a seamless follow the sun operational model to provide best in class support for Acuity Intelligent Spaces (AIS) applications and infrastructure.

This is a hands-on leadership role combining people leadership, operational excellence, and deep technical engagement across cloud infrastructure, reliability, monitoring, and incident response.

The Network Operations Centre (NOC) in Cork will support critical, cloud-based and hybrid infrastructure platforms that underpin our production solutions.

You will lead a growing team and work closely with Engineering, Product, and Platform teams to ensure high availability, resilience, and operational maturity across our platforms. Additionally, you will also support other AIS teams within the DCOE.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing NOC (SRE / DevOps ) team in Cork.
  • Establish best practices and ensure a seamless follow the sun operation model to provide best in class support for AIS applications and infrastructure.
  • Set clear expectations around operational ownership, on-call standards, and incident response.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, and career progression for NOC team members.
  • Foster a strong culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Help to Establish cloud maturity standards and ensure that the infrastructure attains and maintains the required compliance standards (SOC2, ISO etc.).
  • Develop and execute comprehensive goals for the Cloud DevOps and SRE teams, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Identify skillset gaps within the team. Create individual contributor objectives, KPIs(key performance Indicators) and manage resource allocation across various projects.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and make recommendations for hiring and promotions
  • Own day-to-day platform monitoring, alerting, incident management, and escalation processes.
  • Be the primary contact for senior management escalations and provide ongoing status to top management. Deliver quick responses to senior management for scope, complexity and high-level estimates.
  • Act as the incident commander for major incidents, coordinating response and post-incident reviews.
  • Define and evolve runbooks, SOPs, SLAs, SLOs, and error budgets.
  • Drive improvements in mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to resolve (MTTR).
  • Provide operational leadership across Atrius Facilities, DataLab, and WayFinder infrastructure.
  • Partner with DevOps and SRE engineers on reliability, resilience, and capacity planning.
  • Ensure disaster recovery and business continuity of readiness.
  • Ensure secure, compliant, and cost-effective operation of cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Own and evolve the tool stack for monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual intervention and operational toil.
  • Ensure actionable alerts and dashboards aligned to customer impact.
  • Plan, develop & maintain secure, automated CI/CD(Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery) platforms.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

Technical Experience

  • Experience leading NOC, SRE, or DevOps teams in large scale production environments.
  • Strong background in cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred).
  • Understanding distributed systems and microservices architectures.
  • Solid experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation.
  • Familiarity with containerised or hybrid environments (e.g., Kubernetes).

Leadership & Operational Skills

  • Proven technical leadership and incident management experience.
  • Ability to operate effectively under pressure during major incidents.
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to balance immediate operational needs with long-term improvements.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with IoT, smart buildings, or facilities platforms.
  • Experience with AIOps
  • Exposure to data platforms or analytics-heavy systems.
  • Knowledge of SRE practices such as SLOs and error budgets.
  • Experience building or scaling a NOC function.
