SAP S/4HANA Ariba Consultant – Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced SAP S/4HANA Ariba Consultant with strong functional and integration expertise across Source-to-Pay (S2P), Source-to-Contract (S2C), and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes. The consultant should have hands-on experience with SAP Ariba solutions and their integration with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA, along with a strong understanding of procurement and supplier management processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong functional expertise across the end-to-end Source-to-Pay (S2P) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) lifecycle, including sourcing, supplier onboarding, procurement, purchase orders, goods/services receipt, invoicing, and related procurement activities.
• Possess strong experience in Indirect Procurement processes and understand the complete procurement lifecycle, including requisitioning, approvals, purchasing, supplier collaboration, invoicing, and exception handling.
• Have hands-on experience with key SAP Ariba solutions, including:
• SAP Ariba Buying & Invoicing
• SAP Ariba Guided Buying
• SAP Business Network / Ariba Network
• SAP Ariba Sourcing
• SAP Ariba Contracts
• SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance (SLP)
• Supplier Management
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of Supplier Lifecycle Management, including supplier onboarding, registration, qualification, segmentation, performance management, and ongoing supplier data maintenance.
• Have strong experience with SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG) and understand the integration architecture, configuration, mappings, message flows, and troubleshooting required for integration between SAP Ariba and SAP backend systems.
• Possess hands-on experience integrating SAP Ariba with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA, including procurement master data and transactional data flows between the systems.
• Understand integration scenarios involving procurement documents such as Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Goods Receipts, Service Entries, Invoices, and related master data.
• Have good functional knowledge of SAP Materials Management (SAP MM), particularly procurement, purchasing, vendor/supplier master data, inventory-related processes, and integration points with SAP Ariba.
• Collaborate with business procurement teams, functional consultants, integration teams, and technical teams to understand requirements and translate them into effective SAP Ariba solutions.
• Participate in solution design, configuration, integration testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment, cutover, and post-go-live support.
• Support testing activities by preparing test scenarios, validating end-to-end procurement processes, analyzing defects, and coordinating issue resolution with functional and technical teams.
• Provide production support and troubleshooting for SAP Ariba-related issues, including transaction failures, integration errors, supplier-related issues, purchasing/invoicing problems, and data synchronization issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis for recurring production issues and work with SAP, integration teams, and business stakeholders to implement sustainable solutions.
• Work closely with procurement and business stakeholders to understand operational challenges, recommend improvements, and optimize existing S2P/P2P processes.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end SAP Ariba delivery, covering S2P, P2P, S2C, Supplier Management, Guided Buying, Ariba Network, and integration with SAP S/4HANA/ECC.
• Act as the functional and solution lead for SAP Ariba, providing guidance on solution design, configuration, integration, enhancements, and best practices.
• Lead and mentor functional and technical consultants, providing direction, reviewing deliverables, resolving functional challenges, and ensuring quality and timely completion of assigned activities.
• Work closely with business, procurement, IT, SAP, and integration stakeholders to understand requirements, identify gaps, and translate business needs into scalable SAP Ariba solutions.
• Own solution design and functional governance, ensuring that proposed solutions follow SAP/Ariba standards and minimize unnecessary customizations.
• Lead requirement-gathering and design workshops, facilitate discussions with business SMEs, and drive decisions on process and solution design.
• Coordinate across SAP Ariba, S/4HANA, SAP MM, CIG/integration, ABAP, security, and other dependent teams to ensure successful end-to-end delivery.
• Lead key project phases including design, build, SIT, UAT, cutover, go-live, hypercare, and transition to steady-state support.
• Take ownership of critical production issues and escalations, coordinate root-cause analysis, engage appropriate technical teams, and drive issues through resolution.
• Review incidents and recurring problems to identify process improvements, automation opportunities, and permanent corrective actions.
• Manage delivery risks, dependencies, issues, and priorities while providing clear status updates and escalation visibility to project and client leadership.
• Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and act as the primary SAP Ariba SME and point of contact for functional and operational discussions.
• Support knowledge transfer, documentation, team capability development, and succession planning to strengthen the overall SAP Ariba support capability.
• Drive continuous improvement and optimization of procurement processes by identifying opportunities to improve user experience, supplier collaboration, process compliance, and operational efficiency.

• Strong hands-on experience in SAP Ariba and SAP S/4HANA procurement environments.
• Strong expertise in Source-to-Pay (S2P), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Source-to-Contract (S2C) processes.
• Hands-on experience with SAP Ariba Buying & Invoicing, Guided Buying, Ariba Network, Sourcing, Contracts, and SLP.
• Experience with SAP Ariba CIG integration and SAP ECC/S/4HANA backend integration.
• Good functional knowledge of SAP MM and procurement processes.
• Experience working on implementation, enhancement, rollout, and/or production support engagements.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities, particularly for procurement and integration-related issues.
• Good understanding of testing methodologies, defect management, and production support processes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively with business, procurement, supplier, functional, technical, and integration teams.
• Ability to independently manage assigned deliverables and coordinate effectively across multiple teams.

Preferred Profile

An ideal candidate would have strong SAP Ariba functional expertise combined with S/4HANA procurement and integration knowledge, with the ability to support both business process requirements and technical/integration troubleshooting across the complete Source-to-Pay landscape.
