Job Summary

Role Overview

The Technical Lead will provide overall technical leadership for the delivery of a digital solution and will act as the primary technical authority between BP technology teams, the external supplier, and business stakeholders. The role is accountable for ensuring technical quality, architecture compliance, delivery assurance, and successful implementation of the agreed solution to deliver the business outcome agreed.

Technology Stack

Experience

• Minimum 10 end-to-end technology project deliveries in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading supplier-delivered solutions and distributed technical teams.
• Strong hands-on software engineering and data engineering background.
• Experience with data platforms, workflow automation, analytics, and reporting solutions.
• Financial Services, Market Data, Valuations, Risk, or Regulatory technology experience preferred.
• Previous BP experience highly desirable.

Technical Leadership

• Strong technical governance and supplier management capabilities.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary delivery teams.

Software Engineering

• Advanced Python development and SQL expertise.
• Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, observability, and DevOps practices.

Data & Analytics

• Strong experience with Dataiku, PostgreSQL, reporting platforms, and data integration patterns.
• Understanding of data quality, lineage, metadata management, and governance.

Architecture & Design

• Ability to evaluate solution options and balance complexity, scalability, cost, and maintainability.
• Understanding of enterprise architecture principles and cloud-native design practices.

Governance & Compliance

• Knowledge of data privacy, cybersecurity, risk management, and regulatory controls.
• Ability to ensure adherence to organizational standards and policies.

Stakeholder Management

• Excellent communication and influencing skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong ability to build consensus across business, technology teams, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
• Own technical governance and oversee supplier technical delivery to ensure alignment with approved requirements, architecture, and standards.
• Lead technical discussions with internal technology teams, architects, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and suppliers.
• Review and challenge solution designs, technical specifications, implementation approaches, and delivery plans.
• Ensure the solution architecture is scalable, supportable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Coordinate data integration activities and dependencies across source systems and platform owners.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and implementation plans.
• Oversee development, testing, deployment, and production readiness activities.
• Manage technical risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
• Accountable for validating that all technical deliverables, dependencies, testing outcomes, operational readiness activities, and stakeholder approvals are completed and formally signed off prior to production deployment.
• Ensure documentation, metadata, operational procedures, and support models are complete and maintained.
• Support production issue resolution and ensure smooth transition into BAU support.
• Validate that delivered capabilities achieve the intended business outcomes, benefits, and investment case objectives.
