Position Overview

Our client is transitioning to an AI/ML-driven operating model and is seeking a Senior Technical Data Analyst to support the Data Management team within the Data Office.

The team is building and deploying an enterprise data governance framework to ensure data is trusted, secure, compliant, and accessible for Business Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in AI Governance, Model Governance, Data Governance/Enterprise Data Management, and the Insurance industry, with the ability to work across Data Office, IT, AI/ML, Analytics, Risk, Legal, Audit, Information Security, and business teams.

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years of professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience with AI Governance.
  • Hands-on experience with Model Governance.
  • Previous Insurance industry experience.
  • Strong Data Governance or Enterprise Data Management experience.
  • Strong SQL proficiency.
  • Ability to work 4 days onsite in Boston, MA.
  • Must be local to Boston or able to reliably support the required onsite schedule.
  • Must be available for a 2nd-round in-person interview in Boston.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Data Management leader in designing and implementing an enterprise data governance operating model aligned with an AI/ML-first data strategy.
  • Develop policies, standards, metrics, tools, and processes covering data inventories, definitions, permissions, lineage, quality, ownership, certification, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive adoption of data governance practices across data owners, producers, stewards, AI/ML teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Assess the usability and completeness of internal data catalogs and coordinate governance updates with business and IT partners.
  • Develop and implement metadata and data catalog governance standards, including tagging frameworks, metadata templates, normalization, and validation processes.
  • Establish governance standards for assets moving through POC, Development, and Production environments.
  • Define governance checkpoints, approval processes, ownership requirements, and lifecycle standards.
  • Develop training, enablement, communication materials, and stakeholder presentations to promote governance adoption.
  • Support evaluation and integration of governance tools for the data platform.
  • Support responsible AI governance and controls related to data privacy, bias, regulatory compliance, and AI/ML use cases.
  • Establish and enforce data lineage tracking from source systems through downstream consumption.
  • Work with IT and business teams to investigate and address data leakage between insurance operations and data stores.
  • Collaborate with Data Office, Analytics, IT, AI/ML, and business teams on broader enterprise data initiatives.

Preferred Technical Experience

  • 5+ years of Data Governance or Enterprise Data Management experience.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML data requirements involving structured, unstructured, and streaming data.
  • Knowledge of MLOps practices.
  • Model versioning and deployment pipeline experience.
  • AWS services such as Glue, S3, and SageMaker.
  • Snowflake.
  • Python programming.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy, regulatory requirements, and responsible AI practices.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with business, technology, analytics, risk, legal, audit, and information security teams.
  • P&C Insurance experience.
  • Familiarity with insurance underwriting operations and platform systems.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Important Note

This is not a generic Data Analyst position. Candidates should demonstrate actual professional experience in AI Governance, Model Governance, Data Governance/Enterprise Data Management, and Insurance. Skills listed only in a resume skills section without supporting project experience may not be sufficient.

Local Boston candidates with the required onsite availability are strongly preferred due to the in-person interview requirement.
