Job Description

You crave a career that pushes you, where you'll meet challenges head on and you're guaranteed to grow.

If finding complex technological solutions is your game, we've got the team for you. You're going to help us create seamless operations that result in efficiency for millions of customers.

In this role, you'll:

This is a senior specialist opportunity for an experienced Senior Technical Business Analyst to lead business analysis activities across complex technology portfolios and enterprise-scale initiatives within Transport for NSW.

Operating at the intersection of business and technology, you will provide leadership in shaping solution options, defining requirements, and ensuring technology changes integrate effectively with end-to-end business processes. You will work across multiple systems, delivery teams, and stakeholder groups to drive high-quality outcomes that are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise strategy.

You will lead discovery and analysis activities for large, complex initiatives, helping to clarify business problems, challenge assumptions, identify risks early, and define clear requirements and acceptance criteria. Working closely with architects, engineers, delivery teams, and business stakeholders, you will play a key role in shaping solution direction and influencing strategic technology decisions.

A significant focus of the role involves evaluating solution options and defining key artefacts including:

Business and technical requirements
Canonical data models
Integration and API specifications
Process and control models
Data contracts and interface definitions
Migration and transition approaches

You will work across multiple delivery streams, guiding backlog prioritisation, dependency management, release readiness, and cross-team coordination to ensure successful delivery outcomes.

The role also requires close collaboration with testing, security, data, and release teams to ensure both functional and non-functional requirements are clearly defined, validated, and verified. You will support defect triage, root cause analysis, operational readiness, and change impact assessments to minimise delivery risk and maximise business value.

As a senior member of the analysis community, you will coach and mentor Business Analysts and delivery team members, uplifting capability and promoting best practice across requirements engineering, documentation, analysis frameworks, and modelling techniques.

You will be a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing evidence-based recommendations, options analysis, risk assessments, and delivery insights to support governance processes and informed decision-making.
