Job Description

Requirements

Senior Technical Business Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically oriented Business Analyst to support a critical technology initiative within a complex Capital Markets environment.

This is a hands-on role requiring an individual who can translate business and functional requirements into detailed, implementation-ready user stories, technical specifications, and process documentation. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, developers, data teams, QA teams, and system owners to ensure requirements are fully understood, documented, and delivered successfully.

A key focus of this role is documenting and analyzing end-to-end data flows, including data origination, movement across systems, transformations, validations, and downstream consumption.

Experience in Capital Markets and a strong understanding of the trade lifecycle are highly desirable. Knowledge of corporate lending and loan products is a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements gathering sessions with business, technology, operations, and architecture stakeholders.
  • Translate high-level business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications.
  • Break requirements into epics, features, user stories, tasks, and acceptance criteria.
  • Create implementation-ready user stories with sufficient detail to minimize ambiguity for development teams.
  • Document end-to-end data flows across source systems, integration layers, processing components, and downstream systems.
  • Define detailed source-to-target mappings, including data elements, formats, transformations, business rules, validations, and exceptions.
  • Document APIs, interfaces, files, messaging, batch processes, and system integration points.
  • Analyze data dependencies, upstream and downstream impacts, sequencing requirements, and potential gaps.
  • Collaborate with architects and developers to understand current-state systems and document future-state solutions.
  • Facilitate requirements reviews and solution walkthroughs with business and technology teams.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, edge cases, and unresolved requirements.
  • Maintain full traceability from business requirements through development, testing, and production implementation.
  • Partner closely with QA teams to ensure test cases and test scenarios align with functional and technical requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support to development and testing teams by clarifying requirements and expected system behavior.

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of Business Analysis experience, preferably within financial services, banking, or Capital Markets technology environments.
  • Proven experience translating complex business requirements into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong experience working directly with developers, architects, data engineers, and technical teams.
  • Deep understanding of data flows, system integrations, APIs, interfaces, databases, files, and messaging technologies.
  • Ability to analyze and document complex enterprise applications and interdependent systems.
  • Experience creating detailed functional and technical documentation.
  • Strong SQL and data analysis skills are highly preferred.
  • Ability to independently investigate systems, processes, and data to uncover requirements and dependencies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to bridge the gap between business and technology stakeholders.

Data & Technical Documentation

The successful candidate should be comfortable producing detailed documentation that includes:

  • End-to-end data lineage and data flows
  • Source and target system documentation
  • Source-to-target field mappings
  • Data definitions and data formats
  • Transformation and calculation logic
  • Business rules and validation requirements
  • API and interface specifications
  • File layouts and message structures
  • Error handling and exception management
  • Upstream and downstream dependencies
  • Processing sequences and timing requirements
  • Batch and real-time processing flows
  • Reconciliation requirements
  • Non-functional requirements where applicable
  • Detailed acceptance criteria and test scenarios

Preferred Domain Experience

  • Experience supporting Capital Markets technology initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of the complete trade lifecycle, including trade capture, validation, enrichment, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with front-office, middle-office, and back-office systems and related data flows.
  • Experience working with trading, operations, risk, finance, or regulatory technology teams.
  • Knowledge of corporate lending and corporate loan processes, including origination, servicing, payments, interest calculations, amendments, lifecycle events, and associated data management.
