CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Senior Technical Artist with a focus on Art and Visuals to join our team working on The Witcher 4, the first game in a brand-new saga. You will contribute advanced artistic and technical expertise, attention to detail, and a passion for developing high-quality, accessible visuals that support our ambitious artistic and technological goals. This role is focused on Landscape.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain key shaders for the game environment, including both custom shader code and work within the Unreal Engine Material Editor, with a strong focus on optimization.
  • Utilize C++ and Unreal Engine expertise to build robust tools and support technical pipelines.
  • Apply rendering knowledge to ensure visual fidelity and conduct detailed performance and memory profiling to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Fine-tune materials and shaders to behave correctly under different lighting conditions. Collaborate and exchange feedback with the lighting team and other technical artists.
  • Build tools and workflows to empower content creators, leveraging both Blueprints and C++ integration.
  • Identify and resolve pipeline challenges, support asset optimization, and ensure smooth delivery across all target platforms.
  • Explore and implement new Unreal Engine features, collaborating closely with engineers and Epic Games to expand what’s possible in real-time content creation.
  • Mentor teammates and help foster a supportive, collaborative tech art culture where curiosity, knowledge-sharing, and experimentation are encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in real-time graphics, rendering, physically based lighting, shading (PBR pipelines), or technical artistry, particularly with Unreal Engine. We also value diverse career paths and equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Strong understanding of rendering systems and techniques, particularly in Unreal Engine.
  • Proficiency in HLSL, GLSL, or other shader/programming languages.
  • Experience using C++ in the context of Unreal Engine.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team setting, including documenting or visually explaining complex ideas.
  • Experience with performance and memory profiling.
  • Comfortable taking initiative and driving tasks forward while collaborating closely with others.
  • Ability to collaborate in English in a cross-functional environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in creating pipeline automation tools using Python.
  • Experience using texturing software such as Substance Designer/Painter.

    Estimated pay range for this position: 21 300 – 33 715 PLN gross monthly.
