The Senior Technical and Operations Advisor, ATLAS, is a seasoned subject-matter expert who provides senior-level oversight and strategic guidance for complex initiatives within the ATLAS project and related research. This role fills critical knowledge gaps, validates technical accuracy, aligns project execution with technical implementation, and troubleshoots high-impact obstacles as they arise. The Advisor partners closely with executive leadership, program leadership, and technical teams to ensure decisions and deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, feasibility, and domain alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide stewardship and strategic direction for domain-specific workstreams and initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted senior advisor to leadership on complex technical decisions, trade-offs, and risks.
  • Lead or support structured problem-solving on high-stakes issues, including root-cause analysis and resolution planning.
  • Collaborate across stakeholders to align objectives, timelines, and technical approach.

Management & Administration

  • Maintain end-to-end accountability for assigned technical oversight areas, including governance and decision support.
  • Establish and uphold high-level governance practices (e.g., review cadences, approval checkpoints, escalation paths).
  • Provide program leadership through operational supervision, prioritization guidance, and issue/risk management.
  • Ensure project execution remains aligned with implementation realities, dependencies, and constraints.

Mentorship & Quality Assurance

  • Deliver expert counsel and advanced advisory support to technical and cross-functional teams.
  • Mentor team members on domain best practices, standards, and methods to strengthen capability and consistency.
  • Validate technical accuracy, completeness, and quality of key deliverables (e.g., designs, requirements, documentation).
  • Implement and reinforce quality control processes to reduce defects and rework.

Required Qualifications

  • Domain Expertise: Advanced degree (or equivalent professional experience) and demonstrated hands-on experience in a specialized niche relevant to the work.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address ambiguous, unforeseen, and high-complexity challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience advising senior leaders or leading technical governance for complex programs.
  • Demonstrated success working across multidisciplinary teams and managing competing priorities.
