Job Description

Within CHANEL Tech Europe, the Digital Factory is responsible for developing and evolving digital applications that support the in-store experience and retail operations for the House. Among these products, MyBoutiqueApp is a strategic application used by boutique staff to enhance client experience, clienteling activities, and certain operational tasks.

In a context of transformation and maturity elevation for the Digital Factory, we are looking for a Senior Tech Lead for MyBoutiqueApp (across several squads). This key role is responsible for:

  • Ensuring engineering best practices

  • Guaranteeing technical coherence

  • Securing delivery quality

  • Safeguarding platform sustainability
    All within a complex product environment and as part of a platform modernization phase.

As Senior Tech Lead, you work closely with:

  • Internal and partner development teams

  • Product Owners

  • Functional and technical Architects

  • QA teams

WHAT IMPACT YOU CREATE AT CHANEL

You are responsible for:

Guaranteeing Technical Coherence of MyBoutiqueApp

  • Act as a transversal technical reference across squads

  • Guide developers in their implementation choices

  • Support partner development teams

  • Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture guidelines and technical standards

  • Facilitate technical alignment across squads in a multi-team environment

Translating Architectural Directions into Delivery

  • In close collaboration with the Technical Architect, transform architectural directions into concrete implementations within squads

  • Ensure developments (mainly by external partners) respect:

    • Defined architectural principles

    • Technical and security standards

    • Engineering best practices

    • Quality strategy and observability requirements

  • Contribute to the robustness, maintainability, and scalability of the platform

Structuring and Managing the Technical Backlog

  • Design and steer the technical backlog for MyBoutiqueApp

  • Identify and structure major technical topics such as: Reduction of technical debt, Refactoring initiatives, Performance improvements, Platform evolutions, Foundational technical projects, Security vulnerabilities

  • Ensure a balance between functional delivery and technical sustainability

Advancing Engineering Practices

  • Promote high code quality standards

  • Advocate Software Craftsmanship

  • Instill DevSecOps principles

  • Foster a strong CI/CD culture (a core skill expected for this role)

  • Improve CI/CD pipelines

  • Integrate monitoring and observability

  • Leverage AI in delivery practices

  • Challenging Cloud Infrastructure Aspects

  • Collaborate with the QA Lead to structure and align quality strategy

  • Support squads on test automation challenges

  • Ensure coherence between development practices and QA requirements

  • While not directly responsible for test automation, master related concepts and technologies and guide teams

You share responsibility for development quality within squads.

Defining and Enforcing Development Standards

  • Define and enforce: Mobile development standards (especially iOS) , Best practices in application design, Application architecture guidelines

You support squads in their architectural and design choices, ensuring alignment with global guidelines.

Supporting Squads on Complex Technical Topics

  • Act as a support for teams facing complex technical challenges

  • Help structure solutions, secure choices, anticipate risks, and facilitate technical collaboration between squad

You contribute to securing overall platform delivery and improving team productivity.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Experience

  • 12 years in software development, with proven experience as a Tech Lead or Senior Engineer

  • Background in complex, agile product environments and multi-squad organizations

  • Strong experience in CI/CD (essential for this operational role)

  • Retail, omnichannel, or clienteling environment experience is a plus

Technical skills

  • Expertise in backend development (Java), web and/or mobile development (iOS is a significant plus)

  • Mastery of modern front-end and back-end technologies (“state of the art”)

  • Knowledge of MACH architectures (Microservices, API, Cloud, Headless) and API-driven architectures

  • Experience with cloud environments, distributed and scalable architectures

  • Mastery of mobile architectures (Swift/Swift UI, React Native, Flutter), app lifecycle (AppStore/TestFlight, MDM), mobile patterns (offline, data sync, state management)

  • Security (secure development, OWASP Mobile), mobile testing (Appium, XCTest, Playwright)

  • Good understanding of modern, decoupled architectural principles, QA practices, and test automation technologies

  • Ability to operate within established frameworks

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Recognized technical leadership, able to influence without direct authority

  • Ability to clarify complex technical topics, facilitate collective decision-making, align teams transversally

  • Strong listening, communication, and coaching skills; able to vulgarize for business counterparts

  • Pragmatism, sense of priorities, anticipation, initiative

  • Team animation and coordination (prioritization, follow-up, reporting, coaching, delegation)

  • Critical thinking and the ability to propose new approaches
