Job Description
The Senior Team Leader’s (STL) Operations primary role is that of a Team Leader (TL). In addition to this role, the STL will act as the functional link between the teams and Operational Management (OM). They will ensure that the communication of operational, administrative, and welfare matters is conveyed both upwards and downwards in a timely and professional manner. The STL will provide operational training to ensure that minimum standards are upheld and will take an active role in the administrative oversight of the Local National (LN) workforce.
STL will actively implement project SOPs and ensure the highest possible standards are maintained across the teams. They will lead by example, demonstrating high levels of leadership, command and control, and quality assurance.

Tasks and responsibilities
- Oversee daily supervision and mission planning for team JMF.
- Conduct weekly training with the OM and AD Trg, with monthly objectives.
- Provide management oversight for PT training and record-keeping.
- Carry out risk assessments, route and venue recce's, accompanied by written reports.
- Ensure TL Handovers are conducted, and paperwork is submitted to the OM.
- Compile work tickets and submit weekly fuel and mileage reports to the Operations Manager (OM).
- Verify that spare vehicles are inspected and rotated every week.
- Demonstrates competence in Control Risks’ policies, SOPs and personal skills
- Ensure that PT standards, including client etiquette and protocol, are upheld to the highest possible levels.
- Support and mentor team members in all roles and responsibilities.
- Actively monitor team performance, identifying and reporting any complacency or performance issues to the Operations Manager.
- Report any disciplinary matters to the Operations Manager (OM) and assist in investigations as necessary.
- Promote the importance of equipment maintenance and ensure adherence to the company’s Equipment Support Procedure.
- Maintain current and thorough knowledge of the project SOPS.
- Monitor HSE performance across the teams to ensure the safe conduct of duties, reporting all near misses, unsafe acts, and incidents to the project HSE representative.
- Ensure that management directives are communicated accurately to the teams.
- Act as the first line of management for all issues within the teams, engaging higher management where necessary.
- Demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and maturity in all aspects of personnel management, maintaining motivation and morale.
- Displays etiquette, discipline and maintains standards in all areas
- Remains informed about the threats and key issues in Ukraine
- Conducts vehicle and dismounted contact and immediate action drills
- Maintains advanced first aid skills
- Possesses competent navigation skills including map-reading, compass, and use of GPS
- Uses vehicle-mounted and handheld communications systems
- Maintains competence in all required skills through regular formal training
Management responsibilities
- Conducts instruction in all relevant operational and medical team requirements in accordance with Control Risks’ training directives
- Ensures the team maintains a professional approach, appropriate client etiquette, discipline and presentation
- Ensures that the team conducts effective administration, including vehicle maintenance, equipment husbandry/accountability and reports and returns
Operational responsibilities
- Assists in conducting risk assessments and operational planning
- Issues orders to team members and brief clients in line with SOPs when required
- Conducts venue and route recces and produce reports
- Command the team and issue direction to clients
- Provides emergency medical attention if required
- Responds effectively to adverse and/or unseen incidents
Requirements
Knowledge and experience
Essential
- Completion of Control Risks Ukraine induction and driving courses
- Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Fit and active to work in a challenging environment
- A minimum of 3 years of military / police experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in in a private security company in a challenging environment
- Available to deploy within 2 weeks of hire
Preferred
- Certified training instructor CTTLS, PTLLS or equivalent BTEC
- Ex-military JNCO or equivalent
- Training in leadership skills and performance management
- Knowledge of and exposure to diplomatic and commercial client
Qualifications and skills
- Valid SIA license (or equivalent)
- Accredited medical qualification (EFAW as a minimum. FPOS-I Level 4 and/or FREC Level 3 preferred)
- Full driving license (UK ‘C’ License (or equivalents) preferred)
