The Role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Senior Team Administrator (Casual) to support our Roads & Highways team in Brisbane. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished administrative professional who values flexibility and is looking to contribute their expertise within a collaborative and high-performing engineering environment.

Working closely with project managers, technical specialists, and business leaders, you will provide senior-level administrative support across a broad range of project and operational activities. This role offers flexibility in working arrangements and hours, making it ideal for someone seeking meaningful, rewarding work while maintaining balance with other personal or professional commitments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing senior administrative support to the Roads & Highways team and broader business as required.
  • Managing complex project documentation, correspondence, and records.
  • Coordinating project setup, reporting, document control, and governance activities.
  • Supporting invoicing, purchase orders, timesheets, project financial administration, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinating meetings, travel arrangements, team events, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Preparing professional reports, presentations, submissions, and business correspondence.
  • Supporting compliance, quality assurance, and business management system requirements.
  • Assisting project managers and technical leaders with day-to-day operational and project support needs.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve administrative processes and team efficiency.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • 6+ years' experience in a senior administration, project support, team coordination, or business support role.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting professional services, engineering, consulting, construction, or project-based teams.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Advanced proficiency across Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, adaptable, and customer-focused mindset.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
