The Role

Reporting to the Director, APAC and EMEA Tax, the Senior Tax Manager, EMEA, is functionally responsible for overseeing corporate tax reporting, provisioning, planning, and compliance activities across EMEA for the Trane Technologies group, and will in addition have specific jurisdictional responsibilities. While the role will partner closely with the U.S. Tax Reporting & Compliance team, ultimate ownership of U.S. tax reporting and compliance remains with the U.S. The Senior Tax Manager will ensure accurate EMEA tax reporting under ASC 740/IAS 12, support cross‑border tax matters, align and drive regional processes with global tax strategies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

EMEA Tax Reporting & Provision (ASC 740/IAS 12)

  • Lead the quarterly and annual EMEA corporate tax provision process, including current and deferred tax calculations in accordance with ASC 740/IAS 12.
  • Coordinate with regional controllers, finance teams, and external advisors to ensure timely and accurate statutory tax reporting across EMEA.
  • Drive consistency in documentation, methodology, operating procedures and controls across the EMEA tax reporting processes.
  • Evaluate uncertain tax positions, effective tax rate drivers, and the tax impact of new legislation within EMEA.

Collaboration with U.S. Tax Reporting & Compliance

  • Partner closely with the U.S. Tax Reporting & Compliance team to support data needs, cross-border calculations, and consolidated tax reporting requirements.
  • Ensure EMEA tax provision outputs are aligned with global reporting frameworks, timelines, and internal controls.
  • Support the U.S. team by providing regional inputs for global tax disclosures, forecasting, and audit support.
  • Coordinate on cross-border tax matters, ensuring that EMEA and U.S. tax positions are aligned where applicable.

EMEA Tax Compliance & Operational Management

  • Oversee the preparation and review of EMEA corporate income tax returns, coordinating with local finance teams and external advisors.
  • Manage audit processes and information requests from EMEA tax authorities.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, standardized workpapers, and documentation across all EMEA compliance processes.
  • Monitor legislative changes across the region and update internal stakeholders on tax implications.

Tax Planning, Strategy & Transaction Support

  • Lead EMEA tax analysis for restructuring, acquisitions, divestitures, and business operational changes.
  • Assess cross-border tax impacts involving EMEA entities, including financing, supply chain structures, intercompany transactions, and cash movement.
  • Advise leadership on global tax reform developments, including BEPS Pillar 2, and other EMEA‑specific tax initiatives.
  • Support tax‑efficient entity structuring, foreign tax credit alignment, and broader global tax planning objectives.

Leadership, Collaboration & Technology Enablement

  • Supervise and mentor regional tax team members, enhancing technical development and driving process efficiency.
  • Collaborate with accounting, finance, legal, treasury, and business operating teams across EMEA to incorporate tax considerations into decision‑making.
  • Work with global tax leadership to implement technology enhancements, process automation, and standardized global tax workflows.
  • Promote consistent tax governance practices across regional and global teams.

Prior Experience Highlights (Corporate Environment)

  • Lead regional and cross-border tax projects involving complex EMEA jurisdictions.
  • Managed earnings & profits, basis calculations, and cross-border modeling for multinational structures.
  • Directed coordination between multiple regional tax teams and external advisors for large-scale initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA or equivalent professional certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with strong academic performance.
  • Experience in EMEA corporate tax and international tax concepts.
  • Familiarity with ASC 740 is helpful for collaboration but not required to own U.S. reporting.
  • Strong proficiency with corporate tax technologies and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional partnership skills.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
