The Sr Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing and filing the organization’s tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, with minimal supervision

Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for sales and use tax compliance, and monthly journal entries company-wide, including the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico
• Review sales and use tax returns prepared by Vertex.
• Prepare and analyze the financial and tax accounts, records, and reports; and determine taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations by maintaining Vertex tax rules to be up to date. Support research for taxation on new services in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
• Coordinate property tax compliance company-wide with an external consultant
• Provide annual fixed asset schedules to the external consultant for property tax compliance
• Maintain organized and accurate records of tax filings and supporting documentation.
• Confirm the organization complies with periodic tax payment, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements.
• Reconcile tax accounts, evaluating and assessing use tax, creating and providing resale certificates to vendors, and providing assistance with year-end close.
• Prepare annual state income tax apportionment workpapers and other pbc’s for state tax.
• Prepare miscellaneous tax returns and assist with compliance with all tax and business licenses.
• Provide solutions for any tax-related issues.
• Research tax notices and prepare responses to taxing authorities.
• Identify and implement process improvements in tax reporting and compliance.
• Performing other projects/duties and accounting-related special projects as assigned by the Manager.
Primary Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant field.
• Minimum of 8 years of Accounting & Finance experience.
• Previous accounting and multistate sales/use tax experience (at least 5 years) required
• Preferred qualifications include experience with Oracle and Vertex or other similar sales and use tax software
• Knowledge of accounting principles, including the recording and measurement of business or financial transactions in any field of practice.
