In this role, you'll:
Working as part of a dynamic Operations team supporting Transport’s critical Traffic Management Centre (TMC) applications, this role will see you maintain and enhance the hosting environments behind essential systems including SCATS, tolling, variable speed limits, digital signage and school zone management.
You’ll play a vital role ensuring these services remain stable, secure and highly available through proactive monitoring, incident response, problem and change management, and the implementation of new solutions.
You will leverage your technical expertise to manage VMware, Active Directory and storage environments to ensure high availability and SLA compliance.
In this fast-paced and collaborative environment, you’ll balance daily operational support with opportunities to optimise performance and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the organisation’s IT infrastructure.
Please note this is a temporary opportunity up to 30 Nov 2026 and is based at Parramatta with hybrid work arrangements supported.

About you
Your deep hands-on experience across enterprise virtualisation and infrastructure, formed through roles in infrastructure engineering, systems administration or IT operations, will see you excel in managing incidents, driving continuous improvements, and ensuring SLA compliance.
You’re recognised as a proactive problem-solver and trusted technical expert, skilled at designing, deploying and optimising VMware virtual infrastructures and a strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory (AD DS), Group Policy, OU structures, trusts, and domain/forest design.
Experienced in VMware virtualisation technologies (vSphere, vCentre, ESXi hosts), storage management (SAN/NAS, vSAN), networking for virtual environments, and automation using PowerShell or PowerCLI, you bring a strong understanding of hybrid IT environments, including on-prem VMware infrastructures integrated with cloud platforms.
This role suits an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer who thrives in high-stakes operational environments, enjoys variety, and values being part of a team that keeps the network moving. Flexibility is key, standard hours are Monday to Friday with participation in an on-call roster approximately every 4 weeks.
