The Role

Defence is seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support critical projects within Engineering, Technical and Materiel Logistics (ETML) Division. This role will support operational outcomes by providing subject matter expertise to assist with the ongoing sustainment and governance of the Defence ERP environment. The successful candidate will operate as a trusted
advisor to ETML stakeholders, delivering pragmatic, scalable solutions that support the ongoing delivery of the new Defence ERP system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the uplift and standardisation of engineering and asset management processes. ·
  • Collaborate with functional SMEs to translate business requirements into structured process designs.
  • Ensure process consistency, traceability and governance
  • Facilitate process workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation, automation and continuous improvement.
  • Support testing, training and change management activities associated with process changes.
  • Work closely with IT and SAP teams to ensure alignment between business processes and system configuration.
  • Produce high-quality documentation including process maps, work instructions and operating procedures.
  • Support SAP master data management activities across EAM and related modules, ensuring data integrity, consistency and compliance.
  • Support data migration, transformation and activities using available tools within the Defence environment.
  • Apply structured data governance principles to improve asset, maintenance and engineering data quality.
  • Support Defence Asset Management frameworks, including alignment to required principles.
  • Support operational readiness through accurate asset hierarchies, maintenance plans & task lists
  • Contribute to Root Cause Analysis and Reliability-Centred Maintenance activities where required.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand operational requirements and translate them into SAP-enabled solutions.
  • Lead or support process mapping, process improvement and change management activities.
  • Support Directorate leadership with data insights to assist informed decision making around issue resolution and solution design.

About You

You will bring extensive SAP ERP experience, strong engineering and asset management process knowledge, and the ability to work effectively with Defence stakeholders in secure, regulated environments. You will be confident translating business needs into practical SAP-enabled
solutions and producing clear, high-quality documentation to support sustainment, governance and continuous improvement.

Essential Criteria

  • Extensive experience in SAP ERP environments, ideally within Defence or asset-intensive industries.
  • Strong expertise in SAP EAM master data structures.
  • Proven experience in data management, ETL processes and data governance.
  • Demonstrated understanding of maintenance and engineering business processes.
  • Proven business analysis skills, including requirements elicitation and solution design.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in secure, regulated environments.

Desirable Criteria

  • Prior experience supporting the DERP program or Defence SAP data structures. Experience with SAP S/4HANA transformation or sustainment.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement qualification.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work closely with a diverse team of varying skills to deliver required outcomes.
