Join Geoscience Australia’s Earth Observation (EO) Program and play a key role in supporting nationally significant Earth Observation capability initiatives, including Digital Earth Australia and the Australia–United States Landsat partnership. As a Systems Engineer, you will support the whole-of-life management of EO capability through engineering governance, technical assurance, certification, capability acceptance, asset management, and lifecycle planning. Working closely with cross-functional teams, Government stakeholders, and international partners, you will contribute to capability strategy development, engineering processes and frameworks, integration requirements, and program delivery outcomes that support Australia’s environmental and resource decision-making capabilities.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative, high-performing environment focused on innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across complex digital and scientific capability programs. A hybrid working arrangement may be considered for the right candidate.
You are an experienced Infrastructure or Systems Engineer with strong technical, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills, ideally gained within complex Government, scientific, ICT, engineering, or capability delivery environments. You bring a sound understanding of systems engineering principles, engineering governance, technical assurance, lifecycle capability management, and technical certification processes.
You are highly organised, capable of managing competing priorities, and confident working across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder groups. Your ability to communicate clearly and influence outcomes enables you to build strong working relationships with technical specialists, program teams, executives, and external partners.
