MANTECH is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in King George, VA The position is Part-time, On-call
This role supports the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) on the Navy’s Aegis program.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Support the research and documentation of capabilities and limitations of the Aegis Weapon System (AWS)
Review computer limitations, attend Change Review Boards to evaluate and assess impacts of computer limitations on the system, ship’s crew, and ship’s operations
Work with Aegis engineers and fleet representatives to determine impact and work-around to fleet operators and Command Information Center (CIC) operations
Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to represent the customer’s interests in Change Review/Safety Boards and other program level meetings
Ability to work independently and to successfully multi-task between numerous concurrent tasks
Minimum Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in engineering, design, development, testing, maintenance (fleet support), building, installation, documentation, or configuration management of a combat system
6+ years of technical experience in the Operational Environment (OE) as it relates to Aegis Weapons Systems (AWS)
Experience working on Navy surface ship programs or similar defense-related projects
Understanding of Command Information Center (CIC) operations and ability to articulate system capabilities and limitations
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years Computer and Network Maintenance: This includes servers, routers, data buses (including fiber optics), and other digital interfaces to ensure that all the different components of the combat system can communicate with each other
System Diagnostics and Troubleshooting experience, specifically: use built-in and external test equipment to diagnose problems and understand how the various systems are integrated to pinpoint the source of a malfunction, whether it's a hardware failure or a software issue
Strong knowledge of the Aegis Weapon System, including the basic operation of all stations and consoles, is highly desirable
Strong Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Excel/Word Programs
Clearance Requirements:
Must have an active Secret clearance
Physical Requirements:
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations
