Location and Working Environment
This position is 100% onsite in Tralee, Ireland.
Purpose & Scope
Reporting directly to the Systems Engineering Lead, the Senior Systems Engineer role will operate within the Systems Engineering team, overseeing the day-to-day operations of autonomous systems, providing crucial support for Facilities, Operations and Quality automation systems.
Systems under the scope of the team will ensure integration of Manufacturing Equipment, Utilities, MES, Data Historian, lab instruments, automated guided vehicles connectivity’s and operation.
Role and Responsibilities
• Design and deliver reliable Process Control Systems, including PLC/SCADA, DCS, and vendor-packaged equipment, to meet business and operational requirements. • Integrate manufacturing systems such as MES, Data Historians, and enterprise platforms to ensure seamless data flow and system performance. • Collaborate with Automation, IT, Quality, Cyber Security teams, and external vendors to support successful system delivery and integration. • Create, review, and approve automation and OT project documentation, including URS, design specifications, schedules, and IQ/OQ/FAT protocols for laboratory and manufacturing systems. • Support qualification, validation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimisation activities for plant automation systems and related infrastructure. • Configure and manage network and server requirements, including IP/DNS settings, communication testing, documentation, and coordination with IT for system deployment and support.
Required Qualifications
• Third level qualification in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Electronic Systems or other relevant Technical/Engineering discipline. • Experience in a similar role within life sciences industry. • Successful candidate must have a strong technical aptitude, with excellent problem-solving skills, working in a cross functional team. • Demonstrated flexible attitude and a willingness to learn new tasks/technology/upskill.
