Job Description

This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.

In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility, enterprise program at the intersection of data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies. Primary Responsibilities

  • Uses Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques and tools to design, develop, and maintain enterprise system designs at the component and sub-component level, including:

    • System context, logical and physical architectures

    • Interface definitions and data flows

    • Requirements decomposition and end-to-end traceability

    • Trade studies, alternatives analysis, and technical decision documentation

  • Lead systems engineering lifecycle activities including requirements decomposition, interface definition, architecture alignment, and verification/validation planning.

  • Establish and maintain system requirements management processes, tools, and artifacts supporting WDP capabilities.

  • Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation including architecture diagrams, interface control documents, and technical standards.

  • Ensure alignment across DevSecOps pipelines, infrastructure components, data platforms, and cybersecurity controls.

  • Support release, configuration, patch, asset, and system lifecycle management processes across environments.

  • Ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, STIGs, and Zero Trust architecture requirements.

  • Identify and resolve system integration challenges impacting performance, scalability, and interoperability.

  • Participate in SAFe ceremonies including PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and Inspect & Adapt events.

  • Facilitate communication between team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment on objectives

Basic Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline and 8–12 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 6–10 years of relevant experience.

  • At least one of the following foundational qualification pathways consistent with DoD 8140 requirements:

    • Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification appropriate for Intermediate System Administrator roles (e.g., Security+, GSEC, SSCP, or equivalent),

    • Offerings listed in the DoD 8140 Training Repository,

    • Demonstrated equivalent training and experience qualifying under DoD 8140 foundational qualification alternatives.

  • Minimum 8 years of systems engineering experience supporting complex DoD or enterprise-scale platforms.

  • Demonstrated expertise applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles in large, distributed systems.

  • Proven experience developing and maintaining system artifacts using Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw) or equivalent SysML-based modeling tools.

  • Experience performing systems engineering activities in DoD or Federal enterprise environments.

  • Experience managing system requirements, architecture artifacts, and integration processes.

  • Experience integrating cloud, DevSecOps, data, and cybersecurity capabilities into enterprise systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Experience operating within SAFe or large-scale Agile frameworks supporting enterprise systems.

  • SAFe Agilist (SA) or related SAFe certification.

  • Experience architecting and engineering multi-cloud, cloud-neutral, or open-source solutions.

  • Experience supporting enterprise data, analytics, AI/ML, or digital transformation initiatives.

  • Experience operating across multiple security domains (e.g., IL2/IL5/IL6 environments).

  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to brief senior technical and executive leadership

  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and tools.

  • INCOSE CSEP or equivalent systems engineering certification.

  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud infrastructure management.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
