Job Description
The
Senior Systems Administrator
will support the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA) on the Legacy Modernization project. This role is responsible for maintaining and upgrading the agency's Microsoft Windows Enterprise Systems environment, including physical and virtual server infrastructure, storage, backup, and security solutions. The Senior Systems Administrator will collaborate with the TSBPA Information Resources team to deliver reliable IT services to agency staff and stakeholders. The position plays a key role in supporting active infrastructure projects, including an Exchange on-premises to Microsoft 365 migration and an Active Directory restructure.
Responsibilities
Monitor, maintain, and update physical server hosts, virtual server environments, and storage solutions in partnership with other Information Resources staff.
Manage and support virtual devices including domain controllers, file servers, Exchange servers, application servers, print servers, and content management servers.
Administer and co-manage Microsoft Windows Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP in coordination with the network engineer and IR team.
Plan and perform duties related to upgrading and supporting the Active Directory Domain environment, including analysis and restructuring efforts.
Assist the contracted vendor with the migration of the agency's Exchange on-premises solution to the Microsoft 365 cloud environment.
Implement required security parameters within the Windows server environment in accordance with agency security policies.
Provide identity and access management (IAM) for on-premises and cloud-based systems as required.
Manage system and user account administration for server licensing, software solutions, and applications.
Assist in the development of documentation related to technical support responsibilities and support procedures.
Provide supplemental network administration support, including assistance with local switches, firewalls, and wireless devices, and help-desk support to agency staff as needed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
10 years of experience supporting Microsoft Operating Systems environments as an IT Systems/Server Administrator.
8 years of experience in the implementation and support of Active Directory Domains, Dell Storage Solutions, VMware environments, Exchange, Microsoft 365 environments, and backup solutions.
8 years of experience communicating and providing direct technical support to agency business units and stakeholders.
8 years of extensive experience providing configuration and end user support for Microsoft Office 365 applications.
8 years of experience managing user accounts and network configurations to meet business and technical requirements.
5 years of experience implementing required security parameters to meet agency security policy requirements.
5 years of experience completing assessments to develop strategic recommendations and roadmaps.
Preferred Qualifications
5 years of experience documenting support requirements and procedures.
3 years of previous experience providing IT desktop support to end users in state public sector environments.
Additional Requirements

Candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Austin, Texas.
Work Location and Schedule
Location: 505 E. Huntland Drive, Suite 380, Austin, TX 78752–3757
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding Texas state holidays.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
