Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator

Department: IT

FLSA: Salary

General Function: The Systems Administration team is responsible for the IT server and computer system infrastructure across the enterprise including Hy-Vee’s retail, corporate, subsidiary, distribution, and manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will excel at obtaining results in a fast-paced environment, have excellent problem solving and communication skills, and can connect technology to real-world business challenges.

Responsibilities:

• Administers and maintainsWindowsservers operating on physicalinfrastructureor VMware and Hyper-V hypervisors.
• Maintainshighly availablesolutionsfor on-premises datacenter workloads.
• Encourages automation by leveragingPowerShelland or other scripting languages.
• Administersand maintains storage, backups, and replication.
• Createsand maintainstechnical documentationstored within the team's knowledge base.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience administering Windows Server technologies (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, Clustering, PKI)
• Extensive experience with VMware or Hyper-V hypervisors
• Extensive experience withenterprisedatacenterstorage andcomputetechnologiessuch as PureStorage,NetApp,Cisco UCS,andFiber Channel
• Experience withtroubleshooting applications and preventative maintenance.
• Understandingof monitoringtools such as NAGIOS.
• Understanding of the network stack.
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, or other scripting languages.
• Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT

Education and Experience:

• A degree in MIS, Computer Science, or equivalent technical field from an accredited university or equivalent work experience (5+ years) is required.

Physical Requirements

• Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
• Visual requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less up to 20 feet or more with or without correction; and color vision.
• Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Servers, PCs, Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft BackOffice applications, Redhat Linux, virtualization, 3rd party applications, printers, modems, and telephone.
