Senior System Solutions Engineer (Software/Firmware), Peripherals

This role is responsible for leading the architecture, design, development, and optimization of software and firmware solutions for peripheral and connected device products. The role drives technical direction across device firmware, communication technologies, software services, APIs/SDKs, and management applications to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions. The role resolves complex system-level issues, creates technical documentation, and stays current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to device ecosystems and system software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of software and firmware solutions for peripheral and connected device platforms.

• Define scalable system architectures spanning embedded firmware, device communications, software services, APIs/SDKs, and applications.

• Develop and integrate device management, diagnostics, monitoring, connectivity, and firmware update capabilities across hardware and software ecosystems.

• Collaborate across engineering, product, and external partner teams to deliver high-quality end-to-end solutions.

• Lead technical planning, architecture reviews, and engineering decisions to ensure performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.

• Drive resolution of complex system issues through root-cause analysis and cross-functional collaboration.

• Create and maintain architecture, design, and technical documentation.

• Drive innovation, technical excellence, and adoption of industry best practices across products and platforms.

• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across projects and strategic initiatives.

Education & Experience Recommended

• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

• Typically has 10+ years of experience in embedded systems, firmware development, system software development, device management platforms, or related technical fields.

• Experience developing and delivering commercially released software and firmware products.

• Experience working in cross-functional product development environments involving hardware, firmware, software, and validation teams.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong software and firmware development experience using C, C++, Python, or similar programming languages
• Embedded systems, device communication technologies, and peripheral device ecosystems
• System and software architecture, API/SDK design, and end-to-end solution development
• Windows, macOS, Linux, RTOS, and embedded platform development
• Hardware-software integration, system debugging, performance optimization, and root-cause analysis
• Agile development practices, source control, CI/CD, testing, and product lifecycle management
