Job Description

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Senior System Calibration Engineer as part of the systems engineering competency at our Bascharage, Luxembourg Technical Center.
The PowerDrive Systems business unit is responsible to deliver hybrid and full electric vehicle solutions to customers. The Senior System Calibration Engineer is a recognized technical expert responsible for the calibration of complex power electronic inverter systems, ensuring system-level robustness and contributing to technical excellence across projects. This role entails substantial responsibility for technical decision-making, cross-functional coordination, customer interaction, and mentoring of less experienced engineers.

  • Perform end-to-end calibration of power electronic inverter systems, ensuring compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and legal/regulatory constraints.

  • Define calibration concepts and strategies at system level, including trade-off analysis between performance, efficiency, robustness, and safety.

  • Take ownership of complex calibration topics, including root-cause analysis of system-level issues across hardware, software, and vehicle integration.

  • Act as a technical reference for calibration-related topics within projects and across the organization.

  • Define, plan, execute, and critically analyze advanced test cases on Bench, HiL, eDyne, and Vehicle level.

  • Evaluate validation results, assess system maturity, and define mitigation actions to ensure project milestones and quality targets are met.

  • Continuously improve calibration methodologies, including automation and data quality improvements.

  • Own and govern calibration data management within projects, ensuring consistency, traceability, and maturity.

  • Integrate and review calibration data from multiple contributors and locations, ensuring quality and alignment.

  • Develop and drive process improvements, standardization, and efficiency initiatives related to calibration data handling and reporting.

  • Moderate calibration data reviews and provide clear, data-driven reporting to project and management stakeholders

  • Actively participate in system design reviews, project technical discussions, development test trips, and customer meetings.

  • Represent calibration competence towards customers, confidently explaining technical decisions, risks, and mitigation strategies.

  • Up to 25% travel required.

Expected Qualification and experience

· Master of Engineering degree in Automotive/Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical/Mechatronics

· 8+ years of experience in automotive system development and calibration of Electronic Control Units.

· Proven expertise in High-Voltage Power Electronics, preferably in inverter or edrive systems.

· Deep understanding of system-level interactions between hardware, software, and vehicle use cases.

· Strong working knowledge of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and Automotive SPICE, including practical application in projects.

· Solid experience in requirements management, including derivation, traceability, and impact analysis.

· Demonstrated ability to take technical ownership, make sound engineering decisions, and drive topics to closure.

· Structured, analytical working style with a strong focus on quality, robustness, and efficiency.

· Tool Experience (expected):

o Requirement & Task management Polarion / Atlassian JIRA

o Test and calibration ETAS INCA & MDA and Vector CANape & CANoe

o Communication & Network OBD Scan-Tools & CAN-bus analysis tools

o Calibration data management AVL CRETA

o Development & Analysis MathWorks MATLAB & Simulink

· Strong presentation skills, clearly conveying complex data to technical and management audiences.

· Collaborative team player, working effectively across functions to achieve shared goals.

· Positive, cooperative mindset, fostering trust and effective teamworkWork in a highly diversified, international, and cross-functional environment where strong communication skills are essential

· Fluency in English (verbal and written communication). German is an asset

· Valid driving license, minimum Category B
