The Senior System Administrator is responsible for defining, administering, and maintaining the hardware, software, and environments for PLM, Regulatory, R&D and Clinical systems required to support Edwards’ business transformation from development through production. This role collaborates with Architects and Application Owners to create and manage system environments, supports administration and maintenance, defines release management, source code control, build and deployment procedures, and ensures environments are available, secure, compliant, and performing as expected. The role works closely with cross-functional IT, Infrastructure, Compliance, Configuration, Development, vendor, and business teams to maintain system availability, support upgrades, execute deployments, manage backups and disaster recovery planning, and maintain infrastructure-related validation documentation.
How will you make an impact:
Administer, install, update, optimize, debug, and maintain PTC Windchill applications and related system environments across development, test, certification, and production.
Lead and Manage application administration activities across the lifecycle, including vendor coordination, installation, data import, upgrades, user issue resolution, permissions and roles, backups, automation, and application retirement.
Define, maintain, and execute source code management, release management, deployment, and configuration management work instructions to support Configuration and Development teams.
Build releases, including weekly, on-demand, and snapshot releases for local instances, and support code deployments, configuration changes, code review, and test coordination.
Plan, configure, document, and support high availability, backup, security, SSL certificate, HTTPS, LDAPS, disaster recovery, and environment readiness requirements.
Provide guidance on non-functional requirements, including performance, load testing, benchmarking, scalability, resilience, and operational readiness.
Perform Windchill system maintenance activities, including upgrades, patches, security vulnerability remediation, new release installation, daily and weekly maintenance plans, WinDU, WinRU, revaulting, and environment refresh or rehosting.
Maintain Windchill vault space, administer CAD and Office workers, perform log and temporary file cleanup and rotation, and support remote file server setup and maintenance.
Review Server Manager, Method Server, and other Windchill logs for issues; administer, monitor, and report through PTC System Monitor.
Write and maintain deployment scripts, coordinate environment resources and schedules, monitor CPU, RAM, and disk space growth, and plan for expansion or cleanup as needed.
Lead and Perform issue resolution, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to strengthen system stability and reduce recurring issues.
Support coordinated patching, hotfix, and vulnerability remediation activities for Oracle RDC/Clinical and SAS Analytics platforms across OS, application, and database layers, partnering with IT Database and Infrastructure teams to strengthen compliance, stability, and risk mitigation.
Author and maintain system administration, infrastructure, validation, work instruction, deployment, and environment maintenance documentation to support compliance and audit readiness.
Provide on-call critical support and partner with Tier 1 and Tier 2 analysts, application users, vendors, and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and maintain service levels.
Lead and mentor junior/new team members by providing technical guidance, ensuring adherence to support processes, and driving the creation and maintenance of high-quality technical documentation, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
What you'll need (Required):
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline.
5–7 years of related working experience in PTC Windchill v12.0.1 or above system administration.
5–7 years of IT experience demonstrating solid performance while working with cross-functional IT and business teams on enterprise-level or complex system implementations.
Hands-on experience administering Windchill environments across development, test, certification, and production, including installation, upgrades, patching, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Experience with Windchill maintenance and administration activities such as WinDU, WinRU, revaulting, vault space management, CAD and Office worker administration, remote file server maintenance, and log review.
Experience supporting source code management, release management, build and deployment procedures, deployment scripting, environment refreshes, and configuration changes.
Experience supporting high availability, backup, security, SSL certificate, HTTPS, LDAPS, disaster recovery, performance, load testing, and system monitoring requirements.
Experience supporting Oracle RDC/Clinical and SAS Analytics platform patching or hotfix activities across OS, application, and database layers, including coordination with IT Database and Infrastructure teams on implementation, vulnerability remediation, compliance, stability, and risk mitigation efforts.
Strong troubleshooting, debugging, analytical, detail-oriented, organizational, and information-seeking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels.
What else we look for (Preferred):
Experience working in multi-workstream development environments using DevOps CI/CD tools and methodologies, with working knowledge of JIRA and GitLab.
Experience in Codebeamer administration, configuration, workflow management, or integration with enterprise engineering and ALM processes.
Technical skills in Java, JSP, JavaScript, XML, JSON, SQL, PL/SQL, SOAP, RESTful Web Services, Python, and relevant code development languages and concepts.
Experience with enterprise application and platform administration across Windows Server, IIS Web Server, Apache Tomcat, RHEL/Linux administration, Microsoft .NET, SSL certificate management, load balancers, routing, firewall concepts, access control, networking, and communication protocols.
Working knowledge of Oracle SQL queries, Oracle APEX administration, Oracle DB 19c, SOLR or search engine indexing concepts, Aras PLM, SAS Administration, AWS servers, and patch management.
Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, highly regulated, or corporate enterprise environments.
Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work toward long-term goals.
Strong relationship management, negotiation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive achievement of objectives across teams.
Substantial knowledge and understanding of computer science fundamentals.
Strict attention to detail and ability to work independently in a complex enterprise support environment.
