Responsible for identifying, translating and creating efficiencies around the maintenance and stability of an organizations information systems concurrent with the organizations overall operational goals. Works collaboratively across multiple functions to identify and translate technological needs into practical, cost effective solutions. Updates and automates code to prevent issues as well as to streamline updates and the deployment of major system changes. Maintains production and test environments and monitors and troubleshoots issues. Responsible for quickly identifying and implementing fixes to down time as well as constantly identifying processes to prevent outages. Works to minimize time to market for major organizational changes that require cross functional system updates. Requires a broad understanding of network, testing, infrastructure automation tools and coding language.

  • Working in one of the biggest R&D offices of Mavenir (located in Brno) Cooperating closely with our Platform team and product R&D teams
  • Member of a small team of three admins, local manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing system administration services to R&D team in Mavenir R&D in Brno - provide and maintain infrastructure for R&D teams
  • Primary focus on either of the three following items:
  • Maintain private self-hosted cloud environment (25 nodes)
  • Maintain Docker cluster (14 nodes)
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, storage, etc.
  • Install and configure systems such as visualization hypervisors, virtual machines, file servers, switches
  • Automate yourself out of the job
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Configure daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up.
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment. Maintain up-to-date records of hardware inventory, networks etc.

Job Requirements

What will you work with?

  • Mainly with hardware from HP and Dell - rack-mount servers, enclosures, blades, storages - and Cisco products.
  • Proxmox, OpenNebula, Docker, Docker in swarm mode, Kubernetes
  • Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Centos, ZFS, Ansible and Netbox

Who will you work with?

  • Peer admins – a team of 3 engineers + 1 manager
  • Integration engineers, support engineers, developers
  • Individuals who like to dig deep into technology and want to know how things work and make it work smoothly

What we expect you already know/have?

  • 5+ years of system admin experience with Linux systems
  • Focus on automation - automate yourself out of the job
