Lead with Purpose. Inspire Your Team. Make Waves.

At the Y in Central Maryland, we believe that strong leaders build strong teams, and strong teams create extraordinary experiences. We're looking for a dynamic, strategic, and passionate Senior Swim Director to lead Swim operations at one of our high-volume Family Centers.

This isn't just about managing pools and programs. It's about building a thriving Swim department, developing future leaders, and creating experiences that make a lasting impact on our community.

As our Senior Swim Director, you'll lead a complex, fast-paced operation where safety, people, program excellence, and financial performance come together. You'll have the opportunity to think big, implement innovative solutions, and help shape the future of Swim at the Y.

We're Looking for a Leader Who:

  • Thinks strategically and delivers results. You see opportunities, solve problems, and use data to drive program growth, operational excellence, and financial success.
  • Loves developing people. You're passionate about teaching, coaching, mentoring, and building confident, high-performing teams.
  • Leads by example. You're just as comfortable developing a strategic plan as you are facilitating training, teaching a swim lesson, or jumping on a lifeguard stand when needed.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment. You can manage complex schedules, high-volume programming, and competing priorities while keeping safety and the member experience at the forefront.
  • Shows up when it matters. You understand that our busiest moments often happen during evenings and weekends, and you're ready to lead alongside your team.
  • Leads with heart. You bring the Y's values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility to everything you do.

Big Responsibility. Bigger Impact.

You'll have the opportunity to lead a thriving Swim operation, develop associates into future leaders, expand access to life-saving water safety skills, and create exceptional experiences for the families we serve.

If you're a visionary thinker, natural coach, and hands-on leader who knows how to balance people, performance, and purpose, we want to meet you.

Build strong teams. Create unforgettable experiences. Make waves that matter.

EQUITY STATEMENT

The Y in Central Maryland strives to reflect and celebrate the rich diversity of the communities we serve. In the face of the undeniable fact that systemic racism has permeated our country’s institutions, including our Y, we believe that we need not only respond to inequities, but also actively seek them out and address them. This is not only a moral imperative, but it makes us a stronger, more effective organization.

Our Y seeks to be for all, and to be for all means that we clearly state that Black lives matter. By stating this, we are not lessening the value of other lives. It is a recognition that in the past and in the present, racism has resulted in unequal opportunities. It is a call for equality, equity and justice for all.

We do this work with humility, recognizing that we must always first start from within.

We expect and ask that all stakeholders embrace that equity and anti-racism are central to the Y’s mission and values and hold us accountable in this journey towards making “For a better us” have real meaning.
