Title: Senior Project Manager - Sustainability

Reporting to: Head of Sustainability

Salary Range: $113,900 - $151,700

The Senior Sustainability Project Manager is a client-focused leadership role responsible for delivering high-quality sustainability services within a dynamic environment that aligns with client commercial value. As a trusted advisor and primary client representative, this role leads complex projects from strategy through implementation and reporting of key performance indicators, providing expert guidance on strategic sustainability pathways, ESG, net zero carbon, and certification pathways for RLB’s clients. The role is centered on service delivery excellence developing tailored sustainability solutions, identifying opportunities to add value, and ensuring outcomes that meet both project objectives and broader business commercial priorities.

Working in close partnership with the Head of Sustainability, this role drives the successful execution of sustainability services across diverse client portfolios. Collaboration is central, with the Senior Sustainability Project Manager working closely with clients, internal teams, and external partners to translate evolving sustainability requirements into practical, actionable, and measurable strategies. By leveraging a strong understanding of ESG frameworks, regulatory drivers, and industry best practices, the role focuses on high-quality delivery while proactively addressing client needs and market expectations.

In addition to leading client engagements, this role integrates sustainability into the technical delivery of projects across the built environment, supporting planning, design, and construction activities. The Senior Sustainability Project Manager is responsible for assessing and communicating sustainability performance, using data-driven insights to guide decision-making and demonstrate value to stakeholders. Through strong client relationships, collaborative delivery, and a focus on measurable outcomes, this role plays a key part in helping organizations achieve their sustainability ambitions and operational performance goals.

Essential Functions
·Proven ability to develop and implement sustainability, ESG, and net zero strategies aligned with client objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
· Demonstrated expertise in leading and delivering complex sustainability programs and projects across design, construction, and operations, with measurable outcomes (e.g., emissions reduction, certifications, efficiency gains).
· Strong client advisory skills, with the ability to act as a trusted partner, translate sustainability into business value, and identify value-added opportunities.
· Advanced knowledge of sustainability frameworks, tools, and certifications (e.g., LEED, GHG Protocol), with the ability to apply them effectively in project delivery.
· Experience monitoring, measuring, and evaluating sustainability performance, including development and management of ESG metrics and reporting frameworks.
· Proven capability to manage projects independently from initiation through completion, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
· Strong leadership skills, including supervising, mentoring, and directing multidisciplinary teams while coordinating diverse internal and external stakeholders.
· Ability to define and manage project goals, work plans, schedules, and implementation strategies to achieve successful outcomes.
· Experience managing budgets, contracts, and financial performance, including cost tracking, forecasting, and supporting project profitability.
· Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills, including identifying risks and opportunities while implementing innovative, practical solutions.
· Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with the ability to align clients, advisory groups, and community partners to advance sustainability initiatives.
· Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including leading meetings, preparing reports and presentations, and delivering clear, data-driven insights to stakeholders.
·Contribute to team performance by collaboration and effective communication.
·Contribute to and understand the client’s desired project outcomes, identify opportunities to add value to accomplish the desired outcomes.
·Add to team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence.
· Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field required; Master’s in Sustainability or similar discipline preferred.
· 8-10 years of experience delivering sustainability and ESG advisory services, including demonstrated expertise in net zero strategies, carbon accounting, green building certifications, and regulatory frameworks within the built environment.
· Individuals with recognized professional accreditations in good standing are preferred but not required. (e.g., P.E., NCARB, LEED AP + Specialty, PMP)
·Skills Required: Expert in project management, including planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of large, complex projects. Good communication skills required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
·Often work in an indoor office environment. Equipment used includes computers and standard office machines. Essential physical tasks include: the ability to work on a computer and the ability to answer and speak on a telephone.
·May work on site location to include ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary motion and ability to lift 50lbs.
