About the Role
The enior Supply Chain Specialist in Benelux Operations Department is responsible for managing the inbound flow of vehicles from European ports to Benelux compounds, overseeing compound operations, and coordinating vehicle distribution to dealers and major accounts across the Benelux region.
The department also supports monthly inbound planning by coordinating expected arrivals with compounds to ensure sufficient storage capacity. We commit to deliver efficient end-to-end vehicle logistics solutions and ensure smooth operational execution throughout the supply chain. This role is key to achieving excellent customer service, operational efficiency, and timely vehicle deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
Inbound Management
Coordinate vessel discharge planning with European ports to ensure timely unloading of inbound vehicles.
Plan and coordinate transportation from European ports to Benelux compounds, ensuring efficient and timely vehicle handling.
Maintain close communication with ports, compounds, Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), and the planning team to ensure smooth inbound operations.
Coordinate expected inbound volumes with compounds to ensure sufficient storage capacity.
Outbound Management
Manage vehicle distribution to dealers and major accounts across the Benelux region, ensuring timely and high-quality deliveries.
Oversee fulfillment activities while ensuring customer and dealer requirements are met.
Proactively communicate with logistics partners and dealers regarding shipment status, delivery planning, and operational updates.
Compound Operations
Coordinate daily operations with compound operators to ensure efficient vehicle receiving, storage, inventory accuracy, and outbound readiness.
Monitor compound capacity and inventory status to support efficient vehicle flow and operational planning.
Cross-Functional Communication
Maintain effective communication with internal teams across Europe, BYD China Headquarters, ports, compounds, Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), Procurement, Finance, and dealers to ensure seamless operations.
System Operations
Utilize CRM, ERP, SAP, and other operational systems to manage logistics processes, cargo movement, financial reporting, and operational data.
Execute operational transactions within CRM, including shipment creation, vehicle call-off, vehicle release, and ownership-related processes.
Operational Control & Process Improvement
Monitor vehicle movements throughout the logistics process and proactively resolve operational issues by coordinating with internal stakeholders and logistics partners.
Identify opportunities to improve logistics workflows, operational efficiency, and service quality through continuous process improvement initiatives.
Cost Control
Monitor logistics costs and support the selection of efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions.
Review logistics invoices, support payment approval processes, and prepare monthly logistics cost reports.
Logistics Service Provider (LSP) Management
Maintain close communication with the Procurement team regarding logistics suppliers.
Participate in supplier sourcing, contract discussions, performance evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support supplier performance reviews by providing operational feedback and performance data.
Main Tasks
Coordinate daily communication with ports, compounds, dealers, logistics colleagues, and Logistics Service Providers (LSPs).
Coordinate vessel discharge schedules with European ports to ensure smooth inbound operations.
Arrange and oversee transportation from European ports to national compounds and local distribution, selecting the most suitable logistics suppliers and transportation modes.
Monitor shipment status and transportation progress through regular communication with Logistics Service Providers.
Coordinate compound capacity planning by communicating expected inbound volumes and arrival schedules.
Handle commercial documentation, including logistics-related invoices and operational documents.
Obtain internal approvals for payments and operational processes.
Maintain and update operational data within CRM, ERP, SAP, and Microsoft Excel.
Participate in establishing and maintaining the BYD logistics supplier database.
Attend regular performance review meetings with logistics suppliers and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Prepare operational reports and logistics documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Monitor operational bottlenecks and implement improvement actions where appropriate.
Provide general support for logistics-related activities whenever required.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Automotive Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
At least 5 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years in logistics and operations, preferably within the automotive or mobility industry.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Chinese language skills are preferred.
Dutch language skills are considered an advantage.
Strong analytical and data management skills with the ability to interpret operational data and present meaningful insights.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, cross-functional environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
