The Senior Superintendent, Mobile Maintenance (AHS) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all mobile equipment maintenance activities at Ray Mine, including Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) fleets, haul trucks, loading units, support equipment, and associated technologies. This role is responsible for maximizing equipment availability, reliability, and maintenance performance while ensuring safe, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective operations.
The Senior Superintendent leads maintenance teams, drives continuous improvement initiatives, manages budgets and capital projects, and collaborates with operations, engineering, reliability, and technology stakeholders to support mine production objectives.
· Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
· Ensure compliance with all company policies, MSHA regulations, and environmental requirements.
· Lead, coach, and develop maintenance superintendents, supervisors, planners, reliability personnel, and support staff.
· Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
· Promote workforce development, succession planning, and employee engagement.
· Direct all maintenance activities associated with the mobile mining fleet, including autonomous haul trucks and support equipment.
· Oversee Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, software updates, communication systems, and performance optimization.
· Ensure maintenance activities are properly planned, scheduled, and executed to maximize equipment availability.
· Drive reliability improvements through data analysis, root cause failure analysis, and best-practice maintenance strategies.
· Maintain effective component management and rebuild programs to achieve targeted equipment life cycles.
Operational Performance
· Establish and monitor key performance indicators including:
Equipment Availability, Schedule Compliance, Maintenance Compliance, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), Cost per Operating Hour
·Collaborate with operations and technology teams to optimize autonomous fleet performance.
· Ensure appropriate spare parts inventory, warehouse support, and material availability.
· Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
· Identify opportunities to reduce maintenance costs while improving reliability and operational performance.
· Justify and manage capital expenditure projects related to fleet upgrades, infrastructure, and technology improvements.
· Review and approve service contracts, equipment purchases, and maintenance-related expenditures.
· Manage contractor performance, project scope, schedules, and costs.
· Lead predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
· Implement reliability-centered maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Support technology integration, fleet modernization efforts, automation initiatives, and digital transformation projects.
· Utilize SAP and data management tools to improve asset performance and maintenance execution.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES.
· Advanced understanding of autonomous mining systems, fleet management systems, and maintenance technologies.
· Expertise in equipment reliability, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
· Strong financial and business acumen.
· Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and maintenance management software.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced mining environment.
· Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
· Ability to build effective working relationships across operations, engineering, supply chain, and technology departments.
· Ability to perform field inspections in an active mining environment.
· Ability to walk on uneven terrain and climb stairs, ladders, and equipment.
· Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Ability to travel occasionally for training, vendor meetings, and professional development opportunities.
· Minimum 10 years of progressive maintenance experience in surface mining or heavy industrial operations.
· Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing large maintenance organizations.
· Proven experience with large mobile mining equipment fleets.
· Strong understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, reliability, and asset management principles.
· Experience managing budgets, contractors, and capital projects.
· Valid driver's license.
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related field.
· Experience supporting or managing Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS).
· Experience with Caterpillar Command, Komatsu FrontRunner, or similar autonomous mining technologies.
