
The Senior Superintendent is responsible for leading and overseeing all field operations for assigned projects to ensure timely, safe, and profitable completion. This role provides direct supervision to Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and craft labor, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
Field Leadership & Oversight
Provide direct on-site supervision of Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and construction personnel
Oversee the total field construction effort in coordination with the Sr. Project Manager
Ensure work aligns with design documents, budget, schedule, and quality standards
Conduct subcontractor meetings and participate in project meetings
Project Execution & Coordination
Assist with interpretation of drawings and recommend construction methods and equipment
Provide technical guidance across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
Develop and maintain the site logistics plan in partnership with the Sr. Project Manager
Coordinate site testing and inspections
Review and approve trade contractor payment applications with the Project Manager
Quality & Compliance
Develop and implement quality assurance and control procedures
Conduct regular quality inspections
Inspect contractor and subcontractor work to ensure compliance with contract documents
Maintain familiarity with drawings, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders
Safety & Risk Management
Enforce safety and health management programs on site
Demonstrate commitment to maintaining an injury-free work environment
Conduct jobsite walks to identify and eliminate safety hazards
Prepare accident and safety reports as required
Scheduling & Reporting
Manage and maintain detailed short-term project schedules
Ensure project activities occur on or ahead of schedule
Monitor labor hours and material costs
Prepare and submit daily Superintendent reports documenting weather, manpower, site conditions, progress, and project impacts
Client & Team Relations
Maintain strong working relationships with Owners, Architects/Engineers, and project partners
Provide mentorship, training, and support to field Superintendents and Engineers
Foster collaboration and teamwork across all stakeholders
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Traverse active construction sites, including uneven terrain
Climb ladders and temporary stairways
Perform visual inspections of work quality and materials
Work in environments with exposure to noise, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions
Perform duties primarily on-site and in-office (not remote)
Education & Certifications
Degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred
OSHA Certification required
First Aid/CPR Certification required
ICRA Certification preferred
Experience
Minimum 8 years of construction industry experience
Experience managing multiple large existing hospitals or acute care facilities
Prior involvement in complex healthcare projects valued at approximately $150M+ highly preferred
Familiarity with hospital infrastructure systems
Technical Knowledge
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with project management software
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Strong mathematical and cost-monitoring skills

Compensation
Salary range: $173,000 – $268,000 annually (companywide)
Annual discretionary bonus based on company profitability and performance
