
Senior Structural Engineer

Orbital Engineering is seeking a talented Senior Structural Engineer to provide technical support and direction for our Substation Design Team. This REMOTE WORK position requires demonstrated leadership, engineering/design competency, a strong desire to learn, and a strong aptitude for design automation. Additionally, the position requires excellent communication, leadership and client relation skills. Candidates with a PE or SE license are strongly preferred. While experience in the electric utility industry is not required, it is preferred.
The ideal candidate will provide leadership and oversight of substation engineering and consulting services for clients across the US. Primary responsibilities focus on creating structural design deliverables, reviewing calculation packages, establishing department engineering standards, accelerating engineering delivery through automation, and supporting project bidding estimates. Projects range in size, complexity, and voltage class from small equipment upgrades to large projects in transmission and distribution substations. The candidate may prepare, provide guidance, or assist in preparing and developing the engineering deliverables for electric substation projects. This position provides leadership and mentorship to other team members and contributes to the technical development of the group as well as the quality of our deliverables. May serve as project lead or independent reviewer for projects assigned.

This is a remote position. Compensation is based on market data and internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s location.
$120,000-200,000 annually (based on experience, qualifications, and location)
