Purpose:

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Kitimat, British Columbia.

Looking for a Senior Structural Engineer, Mining, Minerals & Metals (MMM) for our Vancouver office.

Responsibilities:

  • Works independently at an advanced level completing a wide variety of assignments through the application of advanced engineering theories and able to do regular visits to client sites, techniques, and practices.
  • Has substantial knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, nuclear standards and regulations, and industry standard practices for the control, development, and application of deliverables.
  • Capable to provide discipline supervision for one larger or one or more smaller projects.

What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Lead level of relevant structural discipline experience with a previous experience working on MMM projects is required.
  • Strong background in discipline work and a competent understanding of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices.
  • Skilled in estimating project costs and lead team of engineers and designers.
  • Trained in leadership and project execution.
  • Senior level of design management experience working on mining, minerals & metals projects.
  • Experience on leading and overseeing design/engineering team.
  • Relevant experience in design management development and planning.
  • Excellent experience to produce calculations and use STAAD PRO software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization and analytical skill.
  • Be able to do site visits as needed.

Other discipline specific job knowledge will include.

  • Experience and knowledge in grass roots and brownfield projects
  • Structural design as applicable to perform structural integrity reviews based on sound engineering principles.
  • Design and development of typical structural scope items like different types of foundations, steel, concrete, masonry is mandatory.
  • Excellent experience to produce calculations and use STAAD PRO software. Be able to do site visits as needed.

Job Specific Knowledge / Experience (Desirable)

  • Experience working in project leadership. Specialized expertise in regulations, codes for the nuclear regulation and standards, and industry standard practices. Specific knowledge on the National Building codes is essential.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Must be a member with Professional Engineers of British Columbia.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering majoring in Civil/Structural Engineering.

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $122,176 to $169,718
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
