Job Description
The Senior Field Engineer applies Engineering practices and knowledge to improve the Field Engineering Discipline within McDermott. They must act as a lead engineer and share the conceptual and practical expertise related to the Field Engineering Discipline. Additionally, provide solutions and prepare a mitigation plan to resolve complex problems and apply their discipline-specific knowledge to improve the process and services. The Senior Field Engineer plays a pivotal role with JV Partner Company, and home office engineeering activities with the team assigned, being within the specifications, standards as applicable for the Company side, and follows McDermott guidelines and policies as well as the JV specific policies and procedures in use on the Mozambique LNG Project .
The Field Engineering Team, led by the Field Engineering Manager (FEM), shall consist of the following engineering disciplines: Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers, Buildings Engineers, Piping Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Instrumentation & Automation Engineers, Mechanical (Rotating/Packages/Static) Engineers and Process Engineers.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- The Field Engineering Team shall support construction and assure that materials and drawings be delivered to site according to construction schedule. The Site engineering team acts as the interface between Site and Lead Office, devoted to the solution of any engineering problem which may arise at site throughout the different Work phases.
• The Field Engineering Team has the following main roles and responsibilities at the construction site:
o Perform any site design changes which will become necessary during the construction phase in close co-ordination with the engineering team in the home office, including production of the redline mark-up on the “as built” drawings.
o Technically support the QA/QC groups for non-conformance issues and dispositions.
o Assist the construction Project organization in interpreting construction drawings, specifications and other related documents and ensuring that the Facilities are built in accordance with the drawings and specifications.
o Closely co-ordinate with the home office for the resolution of any problem which cannot be solved at the Construction Site.
o to coordinate and validate for his own discipline the preparation of the field design changes. He shall ensure that the “MASTER COPY” of the engineering documentation at the Contractor’s Site Office is maintained up-to-date, complete and exempt of voided or superseded prescriptions. Formal revisions of the engineering documentation are prepared by him, under the responsibility of the FEM, when required by the project needs. - • Field Engineering Document Management:
o Review with the home office any modifications to IFC documents and confirm whether they are to be formally transmitted to the site subcontractors or if further design changes might be expected such that to limit the possibly of any potential rework claims which might be issued by the site subcontractors.
o Review of site subcontractor issued documentation to confirm compliance with subcontract and Project requirements.
o Closure of engineering documentation together with the engineering team from lead offices.
o Maintain Red-Line Mark Up and Field Design Change registers and documentation to support production of final As-Built documentation needed for successful Project completion and handover - • General Field Engineering Activities:
- Support the field engineer Manager during stage 1 (Transition of the project from Lead office to to Site office) and stage 2 (site full operative and staffed) of the project with the following:
- Field Design Changes, Advanced Revision Notices and Site Technical Queries to clarify design requirements and documents; major design changes when and if they become necessary; to respond to information requests and to provide support for field purchase orders status updates.
o Prepare technical clarifications/qualifications about the subcontractor scope of work, drawings, and specifications, and submit them to construction management team.
o Monitor the issuance of the engineering deliverables to confirm they are completed according to the agreed-upon schedule required to support site construction works..
o Take the lead in creating installation documentation, procurement, and fabrication materials (such as scopes of work, procedures, drawings, sketches, etc.).
o Feasibility of site materials, which involves evaluation of construction schedule, availability of materials on-site, and the date of arrival on-site of the pending materials;
o Responsible for leading the technical meetings at the project level where the priorities to be followed are outlined and concluded with the issuance of the MOM( Minutes of Meeting);
o Vendors follow-up for site intervention according to the construction/commission requirements;
o Resolution and implementation of technical solutions for closure of the Non-Conformity Report (NCRs) issued by quality department during construction activity;
o Ensure the accuracy of procurement, fabrication, and installation documentation, making sure they comply with the contract requirements.
o Coordinate with other departments within the project team to ensure smooth operations.
o Determine the sequence of work to be performed.
o Involved with Construction Management to allocate the construction areas to various subcontractors, which involves dividing of overall Plot Plan into several parts, and assignation relevant drawings/BOQs/MTOs to the in charge subcontractor;
o Procurement of shortage materials as per construction requirements;
o 3D Model review together with the Owner team for the new design changes requested by the owner during the execution of the project following the P&IDs, Isometric drawing, and vendor drawings;
o Tie-in points implementation and coordination with another contractor in a timely manner to avoid the impact on the existing facilities during the shutdown period;
o Tracking Over Short damage Materials (OSRDs) together with the warehouse manager and post-order manager, in order to receive in a shorter time from suppliers the missing/replacement materials identified during materials inspection on site;
o Emission monthly of Engineering Report which includes the achievements, progress, materials feasibility, site criticalities, and direction to be followed
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering.
- 10-15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with Major Contractors or a consultant.
- At least two-three of Operations and Field Engineering experience).
- Thorough knowledge of Excel spreadsheet.
- Experince in Project scheduling.
- Familiar with Subcontract activities.
- knowledge of Microsoft tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Knowledge in Auto CAD
