Job Description

Overview

Microsoft AI Experiences (AIX) is building the future of AI experiences across Copilot, Bing, Edge, and partner surfaces that reach hundreds of millions of people.

This role sits within the AIX Strategy team and will help shape strategy and investment decisions across the organization. We’re looking for a highly analytical strategist who can bring structure to ambiguous business questions, build a rigorous fact base from complex data, and translate analysis into clear recommendations for senior leaders.

You will develop forecasting and predictive models, evaluate market and competitive dynamics, size new opportunities, and build pricing and monetization strategies. The work will require bringing together internal and external data, identifying the metrics that matter, testing assumptions through scenario and sensitivity analysis, and developing business cases that inform product, go-to-market, and investment decisions.

The ideal candidate combines the quantitative rigor of investment banking or strategic finance with strong business judgment and strategic thinking. They are comfortable operating with incomplete information, can independently determine the right analytical approach, and can turn complex analysis into a clear point of view on what Microsoft should do and why.

AI Experiences employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft Hub in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Build forecasting, predictive, scenario and sensitivity models to evaluate market growth, customer adoption, revenue potential, and business performance.
  • Analyze complex and imperfect datasets to identify trends, business drivers, risks and opportunities.
  • Develop quantitative analyses and business cases to inform product and investment decisions.
  • Support market sizing, competitive analysis and pricing strategy through research and modelling.
  • Translate quantitative analysis into clear strategic insights, implications and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Business Development, Finance, Marketing, Sales and other teams to pressure-test assumptions and inform key strategic decisions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 3+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

  • 3+ years of experience in strategic finance, investment banking, corporate development, pricing strategy, management consulting or a highly quantitative strategy role.
  • 3+ years of experience building decision-grade quantitative and financial models, including forecasting, scenario and sensitivity analyses.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex and imperfect datasets, and synthesize multiple sources into a defensible fact base.
  • Advanced Excel, financial modeling, and quantitative analysis skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with market sizing, competitive benchmarking, pricing analysis and business-case development.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, or similar analytical tools.
