and Purpose
The Senior Strategic Analyst supports UofL Health’s mission-driven academic healthcare enterprise by delivering rigorous analysis, actionable insights, and data-driven recommendations that inform enterprise strategy, operational improvement, and executive decision-making. This role partners with leaders across clinical operations, finance, strategy, quality, academic affairs, and shared services to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and support initiatives that enhance patient care, financial sustainability, and organizational effectiveness.
The Senior Strategic Analyst operates with a high degree of independence, translating complex data from multiple sources into clear insights and compelling narratives for senior leaders. This role requires strong analytical judgment, healthcare business acumen, and the ability to connect enterprise priorities with practical, measurable outcomes.
Essential Functions:
Strategic Analysis & Decision Support
Conducts advanced quantitative and qualitative analyses to support strategic planning, growth initiatives, service line development, and system-wide transformation efforts.
Develops insights and recommendations that inform executive and operational decision-making across UofL Health.
Evaluates performance trends, benchmarks, and opportunities related to clinical operations, access, quality, growth, and financial performance.
Supports development of business cases, pro formas, and scenario analyses to assess strategic and operational options.
Data Management & Analytics
Extracts, integrates, and analyzes data from multiple internal and external sources, including clinical, operational, financial, and market datasets.
Designs and maintains analytical models, dashboards, and reports that provide timely, accurate insights for leadership.
Ensures data accuracy, integrity, and appropriate interpretation when presenting findings and recommendations.
Applies advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and related analytical tools to visualize data and communicate insights clearly.
Market & Industry Insight
Conducts market research, competitive analysis, and trend assessment to inform UofL Health’s strategic positioning.
Translates healthcare industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices into implications and opportunities for an academic health system.
Communication & Collaboration
Synthesizes complex analyses into concise presentations, executive summaries, and briefing materials.
Communicates findings effectively to diverse audiences, including clinical leaders, operational teams, and executive leadership.
Collaborates closely with cross-functional partners to understand business needs, incorporate context, and ensure analyses are relevant and actionable.
Builds strong working relationships across UofL Health and the University of Louisville to support coordinated, enterprise-wide decision-making.
Continuous Improvement & Professional Contribution
Identifies opportunities to improve analytical methods, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and insight quality.
Mentors junior analysts and supports team capability-building as assigned.
Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Other Qualifications
Applies an understanding of academic health system structures, including the integration of clinical care, research, and education missions.
Supports enterprise analyses spanning hospitals, physician practices, academic departments, and shared services.
Assists in evaluating initiatives related to access to care, population health, workforce optimization, and academic mission sustainability.
Ensures analyses reflect the complex governance, funding, and operational realities of our academic healthcare system.
Job Requirements
(Education, Experience, Licensure and Certification)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, analytics, public health, healthcare administration, or a related field required. Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MHA, or similar) preferred.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in healthcare analytics, strategy, consulting, finance, or operations.
Experience in a healthcare system, academic medical center, or management consulting environment preferred.
