Job Description

The Statutory Senior Accountant will work within a team that is responsible for statutory accounting and reporting of specific assigned legal entities. In addition, the Statutory accounting team will be responsible for regulatory financial reporting requirements, as well as compliance and implementation of internal control policies and procedures. The position reports to the Statutory Accounting Manager EMEA.

Main Tasks:

  • Perform activities within the Record-to-Report processes in line with local statutory requirements of the EMEA countries assigned and internal corporate policies.

  • Prepare statutory accounts following local legislation and requirements, in line with timelines.

  • Prepare and file the company's annual statement, other supplemental annual statements and exhibits in line with local requirements.

  • Maintain the local accounts (books) and accounting records complete and accurate, including statutory adjustments. Keep accounts balances reconciled.

  • Perform accounts reconciliations (US GAAP to Local GAAP, Local GAAP to Tax accounts). Keep accounts balances reconciled and substantiated.

  • Prepare statutory deliverables and filings as well as any other local statistical and government requirements.

  • Cooperate with local advisors and consultants on preparation and filing of statutory documents.

  • Work with local authorities on the requirements (audits, new legislation, ad-hoc requests).

  • Monitor and reflect on legislation changes and requirement to maintain statutory reporting compliant and accurate. Implement required accounting processes, changes and controls.

  • Ensure performance of internal controls, including local compliance.

  • Ensure all internal policies and procedures are consistently followed.

  • Support audits (internal & external) including coordination of client deliverables.

  • Ensure accounting documentation (Guidelines, Manuals) are complete and up-to-date.

  • Motivate, mentor, and collaborate with Accounting team members.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the Accounting Team.

Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in statutory accounting & reporting, statutory audits in respective region/countries, public accounting, in corporation or global accounting firm (Big 4) are preferred.

  • Experience in preparation of statutory financial reports including annual reports and tax returns and local declarations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of successful collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Excellent technical financial skills. Ability to understand the balance sheet & income statement impacts of every transaction and to challenge or propose material accounting judgment entries, when relevant.

  • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles and processes.

  • Record to Report knowledge and experience.

  • Strong understanding of some of the major local statutory requirements in the region and countries in the scope is an advantage.

  • SAP R3, Oracle, HFM knowledge is a plus.
