If you are inspired by purpose-driven work and a collaborative, values-led culture, we invite you to explore a career with us.   As a  Senior Staff Engineer on the  Retail Planning Tools team,  you’ll play a pivotal role by  designing,  architecting and leading/developing software solutions in our Wealth Planning/Financial Planning domain by  working closely with product managers and collaborating cross-functionally with other squads You’ll work on  delivering an integrated planning experience between our wealth planners and clients managing complex dependencies between systems and  experiences   In addition to an earnest desire to help people, we are looking for the ideal candidate to complement the team’s existing talents. For this  Senior Staff Engineer role, we are seeking a candidate with proven  software  lead/development experience in AWS  leveraging AI coding tools to help advance  our financial planning and wealth planning platform solutions.  If you are an engineer with  strong architecture and development experience, this may be an opportunity for you!   Responsibilities:   
  • Design and develop modern cloud-based solutions  in Financial Planning domain 
  • Improve operational excellence, efficiency, and maintainability of owned service areas 
  • Actively collaborate with Architects and other Engineering leads to solve problems and build  new solutions 
  • Create and drive team’s technical strategy and roadmap based on broad and deep understanding of the domain area and team objectives 
  • Translate Product vision into effective technical solutions with emphasis on quality and forward progress on tech strategy 
  • Hands-on development of new features and functionality 
  Requirements:   
  • 10+ years software development experience including  significant experience developing systems in the AWS cloud or similar cloud provider using modern services and technologies 
  • 3+ years technically leading engineering teams and cross-team projects 
  • Expertise in Java or a similar object-oriented language is  required, experience in  Javascript and  GraphQL is nice to have 
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with other team members and other functional areas such as Product, Design and Data 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders 
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience 
  Edelman Financial Engines takes a market-based approach to pay. The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $147,400 - $196,600. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, job-related skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions.
