Senior Staff Software Engineer, you'll lead technical strategy and execution across the
YouVersion Family of Apps—driving innovative, scalable systems that impact the organization at a foundational level. You'll architect solutions across disciplines, mentor senior engineers, and set standards that shape the future of our engineering culture.

What You'll Do
Leadership and Technical Strategy
- Lead large-scale technical initiatives that span multiple engineering disciplines.
- Create alignment between different engineering disciplines on technical approaches and strategies.
- Serve as a technical authority for primary engineering discipline.
- Drive organizational-level technical decisions that balance innovation, stability, and organizational goals.
- Cast strategic vision with engineering and organization leadership.
Technical Excellence and System Architecture
- Design and implement scalable architectural solutions that address complex organizational challenges.
- Set high standards for code quality, resilience, and scalability across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Drive consistency in technical practices and standards across engineering disciplines.
- Shape technology selection and implementation strategies for major initiatives.
- Establish security standards across engineering disciplines, promoting a security mindset.
- Ensure technical solutions align with overall organization objectives and long-term technical vision.
Communication and Mentorship
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to audiences at all levels, from engineers to executive leadership.
- Mentor engineers across multiple disciplines, helping them grow in technical expertise and leadership.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing across the organization.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders throughout the organization to understand organizational needs.
- Represent the engineering organization in cross-functional discussions.
Skills Needed to Succeed
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with demonstrated experience leading large-scale technical solutions.
- Outstanding communication skills across all levels, from mentoring engineers to presenting to leadership.
- Ability to establish trust and effective communication across engineering discipline boundaries.
- Strong strategic thinking with ability to balance technical excellence and business requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and align multiple teams on technical direction.
- Proven track record of successfully leading complex technical initiatives.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred.
- 9+ years of related work experience.
- Previous experience as a Staff Engineer or equivalent level.
