Job Description

As a Senior / Staff Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, AI, and customer success. You will work directly with healthcare customers to deeply understand their workflows and pain points, and then design, implement, and iterate on AI‑powered solutions that deliver measurable business value.

This role is ideal for someone who loves shipping in the real world: you’re comfortable in ambiguous environments, you move quickly from idea to prototype to production, and you enjoy being face‑to‑face with users as much as you enjoy writing code.

What you’ll do

  • Partner directly with healthcare customers to map their workflows, uncover bottlenecks, and identify high‑leverage AI opportunities.

  • Configure, customize, and deploy the AI platform to address specific client use cases and integrate into existing systems and processes.

  • Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on solutions, incorporating real‑time customer feedback and evolving requirements.

  • Break down complex, ambiguous projects into clear, executable workstreams and drive them to completion.

  • Explore, evaluate, and apply a wide range of AI/ML technologies (with a strong focus on LLMs) to solve diverse real‑world problems.

  • Provide hands‑on technical support during pilots and rollouts to ensure successful deployment, adoption, and long‑term value.

  • Collaborate closely with core engineering and product teams, feeding back customer insights to inform the product roadmap.

  • Stay current on the latest AI/ML advances and help translate them into practical, production‑ready features for healthcare.

  • Mentor other engineers, sharing best practices in AI/ML, forward‑deployed work, and healthcare applications.

  • Contribute strategic and technical perspectives to shape the AI platform and long‑term product direction.

You’d be a great fit if you have

  • 4+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, machine learning engineering, or a similar technical role.

  • Strong, practical coding skills and a track record of shipping production systems that deliver clear business outcomes.

  • Experience with, or deep curiosity about, Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and applied generative AI.

  • High adaptability and a bias toward quickly learning new technologies, domains, and tools as needed.

  • A strong orientation toward business value and user impact, not just theoretical elegance.

  • Interest in working across a wide range of technologies and problem spaces rather than specializing narrowly.

  • Comfort operating in fast‑moving, ambiguous environments and producing results without perfect information.

  • Ability to decompose complex, open‑ended problems into concrete, actionable steps.

  • Resilience, scrappiness, and creativity in unblocking yourself and your team.

  • Ambition and excitement about joining a high‑growth company at an early stage.

  • Strong emotional intelligence, communication, and relationship‑building skills.

  • Genuine enthusiasm for working directly with customers and being a trusted technical partner.

  • Real interest in the medical/healthcare space and a passion for improving how care is delivered.
