The Senior Staff Accountant manages core accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance. This role leads the month-end and year-end close, prepares financial statements, analyzes results, and strengthens accounting processes. The Senior Staff Accountant also supports leadership with actionable insights and provides guidance to junior accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely results
• Maintain the general ledger and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
• Review, reconcile, and analyze complex accounts, including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts receivable and payable, and intercompany transactions
• Analyze revenue and expense trends, prepare variance analyses, and communicate insights to clients
• Oversee invoice coding, account setup, account reconciliations, and monthly bank reconciliations; verify deposits and resolve discrepancies
• Manage accounts receivable collections and oversee accounts payable, purchasing, and invoicing processes
• Support external auditors and tax preparers with schedules, documentation, and year-end financial data
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow monitoring
• Partner with software vendors and internal stakeholders to maintain and improve accounting systems
• Apply GAAP and accounting best practices; identify and implement process improvements
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff and perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• At least four years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Advanced knowledge of financial and cost accounting and a thorough understanding of GAAP.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with a high level of accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a senior-level or lead accounting role.
• Experience in a wealth management, investment management, or trust company environment.
