As a Senior Specialist, Wellness you will report to Director, Wellness and lead the integration of culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices into organizational wellness strategies. Drawing on deep lived experience with Indigenous cultural practices, this role co-develops and evaluates wellness programs, mentors wellness staff, and ensures alignment with Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing. You will serve as a bridge between leadership, team members, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community resources to build a strong culture of wellness and resilience.

This is a full-time, permanent position offered on a remote basis.

About the Opportunity:

Strategic Wellness Leadership

  • Lead the development and evaluation of wellness strategies and programs that integrate Indigenous teachings, trauma-informed practices, and evidence-based approaches, while mentoring wellness staff and advising organizational leadership on culturally responsive wellness policies
  • Design, facilitate, and continuously improve wellness, creative, and peer-connection activities rooted in Indigenous cultural practices, using qualitative and quantitative data to measure outcomes and identify opportunities for innovation
  • Provide one-on-one support and regular check-ins to Claims Helpers and team members, support Elders in Sharing Circles, and promote emotional, cultural, and mental wellness across project teams

Program Strategy and Planning

  • Lead or contribute to wellness program development, review, and planning sessions, refining program purposes, structures, and frameworks while tracking activities, engagement, and attendance data to inform continuous improvement
  • Participate in self-reflection and 360° feedback cycles and complete additional tasks as assigned

Cultural and Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, serving as a trusted advisor on Indigenous wellness and cultural practices
  • Ensure all programs uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and culturally safe practices

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee wellness resources, documentation, and outcome reporting while modeling emotional intelligence, resilience, and wellness in all aspects of professional practice

About You:

You bring 7 plus years of experience in helping or human services roles, ideally within an Indigenous community or organization and:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field (social work, counselling, Indigenous studies, health promotion, organizational psychology, etc.)
  • Deep personal connection to and understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and ways of knowing, being, and doing, gained through lived experience
  • Expertise in Indigenous-based mental health, trauma-informed care, and culturally safe wellness practices
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in mentoring, coaching, or overseeing wellness programs
  • Ability to advise organizational leadership on culturally responsive wellness practices
  • Experience facilitating workshops, circles, group sessions, or cultural wellness events
  • Commitment to cultural humility, reconciliation, and continuous learning

Successful candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check as a condition of employment.

Compensation:

Starting annual compensation of $70,000 -$80,000 plus rewarding benefits package. The offered compensation will take into account the candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.
