In this role, you'll:
You will play a pivotal role in driving commercial excellence across the entire procurement lifecycle, overseeing a diverse portfolio of sourcing events, complex contract negotiations and high value commercial activities. Working in alignment with the Commercial Benefits Framework, you will champion financially sustainable, value adding outcomes through sophisticated commercial analysis, market insights and performance focused strategies.
This role will see you leading and shaping complex commercial activities—including negotiations, dispute prevention and resolution, risk assessment, probity oversight, and market appropriate contract structuring—to protect Transport for NSW’s interests and optimise value for money. You will contribute deep commercial expertise within cross functional project teams, influencing strategic decisions and ensuring commercial integrity and governance are applied consistently across procurement and contract management activities.
You will also maintain strong partnerships with Finance, Legal and other corporate functions, acting as a trusted commercial advisor. This includes ensuring alignment with NSW Treasury requirements, supporting the delivery of compliant frameworks and processes, and enhancing visibility of financial benefits through effective application of the Commercial Benefits Framework.

About you
You bring extensive experience in commercial and procurement practices within large, complex environments—ideally within the public sector—along with a strong understanding of legislation, governance requirements and the full procurement lifecycle. You are confident managing commercial issues from concept through to negotiation, delivery and contract variation, and you demonstrate strong judgement when addressing commercial disputes or risk exposure.
You have well developed commercial planning, analytical and problem solving skills, enabling you to drive strategic direction and deliver high impact commercial outcomes. You are adept at interpreting policy and financial information, assessing market conditions and advising on risk appropriate commercial structures.
You hold relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience that demonstrates strong capability in procurement, contract management and commercial governance. You also bring a solid understanding of the NSW Government Procurement Framework and the probity, compliance and governance principles that guide effective and transparent public sector procurement.
