The Lab Systems Specialist is part of a team responsible for the global management, support and continuous improvement of Laboratory Systems at Celanese, with a primary focus on LIMS, CDS and Instrument Integration systems. The position is both technical and functional in nature.
Strategy - The Specialist will work with Manufacturing, R&D, and IT leaders to align on a roadmap of projects and technologies in the laboratory technology space at Celanese.
Project Definition – The Specialist will work closely with Celanese laboratory partners to gather functional requirements and convert them into functional specifications for configuration and implementation.
Project Execution – Throughout project delivery, the Lab Systems Specialist will drive project and enhancement execution.
Instrument Integration and Automation – The Specialist will work with IT Field services teams and laboratory teams to create and maintain an inventory of laboratory instruments, software and IT assets in the labs. The Lab Systems specialist will identify key instruments for automation and data integration with LIMS and other systems. The Lab Systems specialist will work with key partners in the lab and with our LIMS vendor to drive instrument data automation with the goal of zero manual entry for key instruments.
Support – The Specialist augments our global support staff and will be expected to provide both technical and functional support to our LIMS user base. A thorough understanding of SampleManager LIMS is required.
10+ years of experience in LIMS support and implementation
Understanding and familiarity with LIMS integration with Data Historians, SAP QM, and/or MES
Experience with laboratory instrument automation and integration
Experience in OpenLab, Minitab, Gagepack is a plus
8+ years of LIMS Programming experience, preferably using Python, C# or VGL
Project management
Familiar with client/server technologies
Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/written communications skills with ability to lead across teams
Required Education:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science fields or equivalent experience
Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
SampleManager - SMIDI Interface with SAP
Software development leadership
Familiar with SAP QM, OSI PI, PLM
