About the Role
We are seeking a senior technical leader to design Behind-the-Meter energy storage and Energy-as-a-Service solutions for Telecom, TowerCo, and Commercial & Industrial customers. The company integrates third-party batteries and inverters through its own EMS, SCADA, and optimization platform. The role spans product, systems engineering, sales engineering, delivery, and customer success. It suits someone who thrives in a startup and can move from whiteboard design to field troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer solution architecture: Design backup power and storage systems for telecom carriers, tower companies, data centers, critical infrastructure, and C&I sites. This covers sizing, technology selection, controls, communications, and utility interconnection.
- OEM integration: Own integration of battery OEMs (CATL, Hithium, EVE, BYD, Fluence, LG) and PCS/inverter platforms (Sol-Ark, SMA, Sungrow, Delta, Kehua, TMEIC). Define communication mappings, data models, and controls sequences to make integrations repeatable.
- EMS and controls: Be the system-level expert on peak shaving, demand charge reduction, generator optimization, demand response, solar-plus-storage, and revenue stacking, and turn market needs into product features.
- Startup leadership: Join customer presentations, help close deals, support investor and partner discussions, build documentation and playbooks, and mentor future engineers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Electrical, Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years in battery storage, DER controls, microgrids, telecom power, SCADA, industrial automation, or distributed/utility-scale energy
- Multi-vendor integration experience and a strong grasp of communications and control systems
- Customer-facing technical experience
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and commissioning events
Preferred
- Telecom backup power or TowerCo experience, hybrid generator-storage systems
- EMS development, revenue stacking, fleet management platforms
- Utility interconnection, solar-plus-storage, FAT/SAT
- Startup experience
- Protocols: Modbus TCP/RTU, CANBus, MQTT, DNP3, SNMP, BACnet, REST APIs
- Compliance: UL 9540/9540A, UL 1741 SB, IEEE 1547, NFPA 855, NEC 706
Success Milestones
- 6 months: Technical lead on key opportunities, certify one new battery and one new PCS platform, and improve commissioning procedures
- 12 months: Repeatable OEM integration framework, 25%+ shorter field integration timelines, and trusted advisor status with strategic customers
- 24 months: Shape the next-generation EMS, set architecture standards, grow the solutions engineering team, and influence product roadmap
