Senior Solutions Architect – Patient Room & Clinical Technology


The Senior Solutions Architect – Patient Room & Clinical Technology leads the design of next-generation patient care environments by integrating clinical systems, connected devices, and digital patient engagement platforms. This role is central to advancing Children’s National’s vision of the “hospital room of the future,” improving patient experience, and enhancing clinical efficiency through technology innovation.


Key Responsibilities
Architect and design integrated patient room technology ecosystems, including clinical devices and digital platforms
Lead integration of nurse call systems, patient monitoring, digital whiteboards, and bedside technologies
Ensure interoperability between clinical systems and EHR platforms (Epic preferred)
Define standards for infrastructure, device placement, and technology integration within patient care environments
Evaluate emerging healthcare technologies to enhance patient engagement and care delivery
Collaborate with clinicians, biomedical engineering, and operations teams to align solutions with workflows
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and data privacy requirements
Provide technical leadership in clinical technology strategy and enterprise architecture governance

Qualifications

Minimum Education
8–12+ years of experience in healthcare technology, clinical systems, or solution architecture
Experience with clinical device integration and healthcare IT ecosystems
Strong understanding of hospital operations and clinical workflows
Experience with interoperability standards and system integration

Minimum Work Experience
Experience in pediatric or acute care hospital environments
Familiarity with patient engagement platforms and bedside technologies
Experience with Epic or other major EHR systems

Required Skills/Knowledge
Experience working in a heavily regulated industry. Healthcare is a plus.
Advanced knowledge of product management.
Experience working with global distributed multicultural teams.
Experience with agile leadership.
Experience with building, delivering and maintaining production ready products.
Knowledge of statistical data analysis and machine learning such as linear models, time series forecasting, neural network, random forest and NLP models, etc.
Expert in Python coding and utilization of machine learning and statistical packages for modeling.
Experience with database skills, SQL, NoSQL, coding for ETL.
Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty.
Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Functional Accountabilities
Information & Data Architecture

  • Enforce enterprise information standards, guidelines, and principles.
  • Apply expertise regarding solutions information architecture.
  • Enforce data architecture standards, working with Business, Application, and Operations counterparts to assure data integrity and consistency.
  • Maintain documentation that maps data models to information systems and business applications.
  • Aid architects to validate and fix information management issues related to data quality framework (completeness, accuracy, availability, timeliness, consistency, etc.).
  • Manage data dictionary to improve documentation and coordination.
  • Participate in building enterprise architecture information blueprints and data models that illustrate how information is stored, processed, and accessed in the enterprise.
  • Lead data architecture, data sourcing, data flow, and solution discussions for data initiatives.
  • Participate in enterprise information architecture discussions around needs and alignment to enterprise goals.
  • Collaborate on data-related business requirements and perform data architecture reviews.

Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Gathering

  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for healthcare technology solutions.

  • Enforce solution design by understanding opportunities and designing the best way to address them.
  • Develop and review high-level designs, ensuring scalability, security, interoperability, and compliance.
  • Assist in determining the best tool to solve each request.
  • Apply expertise in available solutions to choose the right one for every situation.
  • Architect robust solutions for patient care, data management, and operational workflows.

  • Ensure solutions align with organizational goals and technology roadmaps.
