Job Description

What’s the Role:

As a Senior Solution Designer, you will apply your experience in solution design and software engineering to solve complex problems, manage delivery risks, and address design issues within the Business and Wealth Division. You will work closely with enterprise architecture, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to shape pragmatic, well governed solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes across customer servicing and origination platforms. The role requires strong judgement, constructive challenge, and the ability to translate business needs into clear, implementable solution designs across digital and staff facing channels.

This role must be based in Sydney and requires three days in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage business and technology stakeholders to define requirements and produce end‑to‑end solution design artefacts aligned to enterprise standards
  • Lead solution design workshops and collaborate with delivery squads to shape scalable, implementation‑ready solutions
  • Act as the subject matter expert, owning solution design across the lifecycle and supporting risk, issue, and gap analysis
  • Define and document solution architectures, including interface contracts, ensuring solutions meet functional and non‑functional requirements
  • Ensure designs are sustainable, secure, cost‑effective, and compliant with governance, architecture standards, policies, and controls
  • Deliver user‑centred digital and AI‑enabled solutions across customer and staff channels, maintaining design integrity through implementation

What do I need?

  • Experience delivering modern, web‑based digital solutions with strong system integration and RESTful API experience
  • Background working in regulated environments, ideally within financial services (Wealth or Business Banking)
  • Exposure to AI‑assisted delivery, including designing AI‑enabled or data‑driven features
  • Experience integrating machine learning or AI services and working with cloud‑native digital platforms and front‑end frameworks
  • Working knowledge of Java, JSON, SQL, and scripting languages
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with confidence to challenge designs, assumptions, and risks, and high attention to detail in documentation
