Let me tell you about the role

bp is moving through the biggest transition in its 100+ year history with the goal of becoming one of the world’s largest renewable energy providers and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. To make this transition, senior software engineers need to power our business end to end, from building new infrastructure and services through to customer facing web and native mobile applications.

We are looking for passionate & skilled full stack software engineers with experience in .NET/Java/Python programming language and at least one front-end framework like React/Angular etc. to join our technology team. As a key member, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing and maintaining applications & data platforms. You will have complete, end-to-end ownership of projects. You will have experience building products across the stack and a firm understanding of web frameworks, APIs, databases and multiple back-end languages and on data engineering architectures.

What you will deliver

Design, build and maintain scalable applications and APIs by translating business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions, defining the architecture & design to ensure system reliability and long‑term maintainability.

Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams – including architects, product managers, analytics teams and engineering partners to break down complex business challenges into incrementally deliverable solutions.

Work across a diverse technology stack across Frontend, backend, UX and more to consistently deliver high‑quality solutions in a fast‑paced, iterative development environment.

Oversee the design and development of analytical dashboards built on scalable, resilient data architectures – including data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, streaming systems and data storage solutions.

Establish and maintain data quality, governance and reliability standards across all data products.

Provide technical leadership and direction, offering guidance to development teams while promoting industry best practices and driving strategic, forward‑looking engineering changes.

Champion engineering and operational excellence, continuously improving processes, quality, security, performance and predictability through automation, observability and CI/CD efficiency.

Write clean, maintainable and scalable code, adhering to internal standards and enforcing these standards through effective code reviews.

Apply agile methodologies, adopt continuous learning and consistently implement development best practices.

Implement monitoring, alerting and troubleshooting strategies to ensure application performance, stability and operational reliability.

Develop comprehensive test coverage—including unit, integration and automated tests—to validate business functionality and preserve long‑term code quality

Technical Expertise:

6+ years of hands-on experience in .NET, Java or Python along with strong SQL & data handling skills.

Proficiency in at least one modern front-end framework (e.g., React, Angular).

Solid foundation in computer science principles, including data structures and algorithms.

Experience in designing and integrating applications and APIs in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.

Experience demonstrating containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes to build, deploy and operate scalable, reliable and cloud‑native applications.

Exposure to data tools such as Spark, Kafka, Data Bricks or equivalent and data architectures – including building data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, streaming systems and data storage solutions

Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to tackle complex scenarios with innovative, solution oriented thinking.

Leadership & Teamwork:

Proven ability to lead and mentor junior engineers, developing culture of innovation & teamwork.

Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working across teams and functions including with product, design, operations.

Self-motivated, organized and capable of managing work independently.

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly agile and iterative development environment.

Full SDLC Ownership: Demonstrated experience managing projects end-to-end – from ideation to architecture/design, implementation, delivery & maintenance
